Why Worthy? Because this week we've signed a left back, two wingers and are after a striker?
None are direct replacements for him. Werling will probably see Unsworth paid up and the new lads today are bad news for Kamara but why the rush to push an excellent player like Worthy out (please don't say Flynn, he averages one good game in ten at Town and failed to do anything to impress the Darlo fans last month!)

They'd only be on their way out if they had somewhere to go.... otherwise they are on fixed contracts... Clark and his team seem to be able to get the best out of players... let's reserve judgement

flynn (like goodwin) under turkey turnip wasnt helped by being played out of position mosta the time-stick flynn in the middle, and he could probably do a job-stick him on the left (like turnip did) and hes nowhere near as good-tbh i'd definitely get rid of unsworth and kamara though (im sure with the signings today kamara knows hes got very little chance of playing for us again and has probably asked his agent to let clubs know he might be interested in a move)

My sentiments exactly. If Worthy is happy to currently play second fiddle to Goodwin, then keep him! We've been saying for years that we need real competition at this club and Worthington is an excellent back-up for Goodwin at this time. We have no real midfield presence barring these two lads. No need/reason to get rid of him. Kamara, Flynn, Unsworth, etc... make your way to the exit. Your time is up!

A lot of people use to think we struggled whenever Worthy got injured or suspended, because we had nobody to step in and do his job. Now we have Goodwin people want rid of Worthy which would just leave us in exactly the same position without cover!
For crying out loud, this is what we've been after for years. Real competition for players and a squad with real depth. Remember a few seasons ago when the majority of fans were moaning because we had one of the smallest squads in the country? Look at us now!
Theres only the right back and striker positions that we haven't got good quality back-up for now! Thats amazing for a league 1 club!

I think we could see Worthy with Goodwin in midfield and Roberts,Cads and the two new boys in front of them.

Kamara, Lucketti, Unsworth Worthington to go I reckon. Possibly Collins to fund up the new striker?

I never said I actually wanted worthy to go cos I think he's a good footballer it's just that Flynn gets priority over Worthy, don't know why, but as I've stressed I don't want worthy to go it was just an opinion on what might happen

His place on the bench is due to lack of firepower. Craney, Flynn and Kamara can all add a goal threat to our team if we are struggling. Meanwhile Berret covers all RB, CB, DM, and CM, so takes his place as a sub. Unfortunately for Worthy he is only required when Goodwin has a dip in form or is out due to injury or suspension. Yellow cards are adding up and he can't be far off from been out, then its up to Worthy to keep his place in the starting 11.

Perhaps on Tuesday night we'll see Worthington return to the 16 man squad...

I suspect that's more tactical Who would you rather come off the bench a break up the play midfielder or a attacking midfielder? Which type of player is more likely to come off the bench and win you the game? Personally I think we have one too many central attacking midfielders in Collins, Craney and Flynn so unless Collins moves up to the Championship I can see one of Craney or Flynn leave

The reason why I didn't write it down for 'tomorrow' is because both Pilks and Ains won't be available as they are finishing off their medicals. Werling could be on the bench, but nothing more as he's not 'match-fit' yet. Going off-topic a little bit... tomorrow could/will be a HUGE day in the careers of Parker and Jevons. They HAVE to start scoring asap or face getting shipped out!

Clark's bench reflects that.

Berrett is the cover for Goodwin, how much cover do we need? Unless we get rid of some players that aren't playing then our losses this year are going to be colossal and Hoyle (rightly) wants to run this club as a business.
Sorry for Worthy who has been a good servant and has the right attitude but we can't afford to keep on everyone who has the right attitude and is a good bloke, otherwise we'd still have Phil Senior!

Capable of getting a goal? Parker - one goal since May 2007 Jevons - one goal this season Booth - injured and one goal this season Cadders - not sure when he last scored? 2005? I would say that lot are incapable? uncapable? not capable? Good signings today though ;D ;D ;D

Berrett covers goodwin from the bench but hes there because he also covers several other scenarios. If Worthy was there he would only really cover the one. Even I would have Berrett on the bench in front of Worthy!! If Goodwin gets injured tomorrow, Ill bet you Worthy would be in the staring line up at Yoevil. Berrett isn't physically strong enough for that role. Great when we have the ball but not tenacious or strong enough when we don't. Berret and Collins as a midfield pair would be FAR too lightweight.

worthy is ok, i only include him on my "out list" cos he is a player there will be interest in, that wont be happy not to be playing and who cant get in the 16
think it makes sense for all parties for him to move on.
nothing against the lad but LC obviously doesnt rate him so he needs to move for the sake of his career i reckon...

If Goodwin is out for any reason and Clark still doesn't put Worthy in there, then you might have a point floyds. But as said further up this thread, I don't think his omission from the bench is a reflection of how LC judges him.
