From the last few games it appears that Cads is the only match fit player really capable of rising above the opposition to head the ball. Is it possible that he could do that in the box?

I actually believe that Cads is stronger than Boothy, his heading ability (although not as good as Boothy's) is actually impressive for a small guy. But he is strong as an ox and he never gets knocked off the ball, in many ways i would rather play him instead of Booth, who although a legend is simply not as mobile as Cads. Booth would be more of a guy to bring on if we need to start knocking it long, sometimes when he starts the match we play too predictably.

To put it simply... no.
It's true he is a good header of the ball, but he lacks the necessary height of a 'true' target man.
Another reason why he wins a fair few headers is that most full-backs don't tend to have a very good ability of heading a ball. The best headers of the ball are normally the ones with the best physical presence. i.e. centre defenders.

im not claiming he is a better target man than Booth, i just dont think we should become reliant on a guy who cant really run anymore, and i still think Cads could bag a few goals despite his scoring records. Just a gut feeling, dont ask me why.

In terms of heading ability Boothy is a one off, I doubt we'll see a better header of a ball at the Galpharm for a long time.

I reckon we could see a player with a decent heading ability in the not too distant future.

No, he can't it's all about timing and bravery. Cowan, Boothy, Gray, Mirfin, Morrison all different physiques but all good headers of the ball, what they all have in common is guts, they keep their eyes open when heading and go into every challenge knowing that they will win the ball.
It's a funny thing, if you go into a challenge worried about being hurt, you probably will get hurt.
