with the start the management team have made, none of us should be bothered about who comes in or leaves. they are paid to make dcisions to enable us to improve.
they will get it right.

If Smithies were to go at the end of the season, Town could do much worse than go for a class keeper in Steve Harper. If Given is to go to Man City, it is rumoured Newcastle are already thinking of David James as a replacement. Lots of ifs and buts but Harper is class. He was when we had him last time and still is.

Harper is off to Spurs for £4.5m, think he's out of our league!

Get Smithies out NOW!!!!! Billy Big Boots thinks he's too good to play for Town (Greedy little bastard). We don't need players like that.

After hearing that interview its made me quite nervous that holdsworth might leave. He's been our best player over the last couple of years and we need him to stay. Not fussed it worthy leaves to be honest but we need to keep holdsworth He was excellent last season, but for me - he's been very mediocre so far this season. Another player, like Worthy, who I wouldn't like to see go, based on him giving his all ... clearly being passionate about playing for the club, but if I'm being sensible - perhaps it's time for him to move on.

I dont think its a case of him being mediocre. Last season he was head & shoulders above everyone else, this season we have players like cads, roberts, goodwin, smithies etc who are simply taking the limelight away from holdsworth. His level of performance has been just as good, he just has better players around him now so he doesnt stand out as much.

Can't see what the fuss is about regards Smithies, 1 mil would be a massive bargain for him. For that price it wouldn't be a problem - is he supposed to be that good? Must be something I missed? Average 3rd division goalkeeper, nothing more.

Glennon hadn't done anything ( on the pitch anyway) to deserve getting dropped and after seeing Smithies in the first team about 7 times since then now I don't think hes done anything to suggest Glennon shouldn't be brought back in anyway. Smithies has been fortunate to play behind a back 4 and team in general that have stepped up their game no end with the new boss coming in. Im talking about defenders like Williams and Butler in particular. Thats kept the number of efforts hes had to deal with down no end. yeah hes made some good saves occasionally, but every keeper does that including Glennon. But in the same time hes also dropped a few clangers but hes been VERY lucky because only the first at Carlisle has cost us. The others like the cock up that lead to the disallowed goal against scunny, and the dropped catches yesterday, hes got away with, just. Its a fine line and Im sure had Glennon made the mistakes Smithies has made in those games people like Boxster would have been happily slating him on here and demanding hes imediately dropped.
Hes a good prospect. Thats all at the moment. If hed rather play for Chelsea's under 19 academy side and earn a few more bob, but probably never play 1st team football again for years, until hes loaned out to Orient, then lets get what we can for him and move on.

I made the mistake of reading the thread before listening to the interview. Players come and go, but listening to Dean, Lee and himself have obviously got a development plan in place and they will stick to it regardless of sentiment. I am sure they know that Alex is a good keeper and will play at a higher level, but at the end of the day there's no point paying him massive money if we can't sign the strikers and full backs etc to make us a great team. I also think he is just making sure that any other agents thinking of holding out for a better deal (Worthy/Holdsworth?) won't just get what they want. He just sounds like a very very good businessman who is giving Lee the best of his business experience and letting Lee and his team work out the best footballing solution for Huddersfield Town. Still inspired by the backroom setup, still back their decisions 100%. Yes it is sentimentally disappointing not to take Alex, Jon and Andy on our journey, but if that is the price of success, then you have to back the strength of conviction of the management. Remember Dean is a fan and is having the same emotional tug of war that we are, but he has to put that aside and make good business decisions and back his manager. I for one am right behind him - well done Dean. UTT

If Town end up getting 7 figures for this lad, then isn't that good business?
And if you were 18 again (or when some of you become 18...) wouldn't you think an opportunity to make yourself financially comfortable for the forseeable future is worth taking?
Agents are scum, but in this instance I think Smithies parent's will also be influencing the lad.
It'll all come out in the wash as they say...
