He's gonna need one from the halfway line to the box, if we're playing Ainsworth on the wing. Poor Jevo, struggles to get in the penalty area when Cads and Parker are breaking forward, so he's no chance when Ainsworth sets off on a run forward.

Poor Jevo, struggles to get in the penalty area when Cads and Parker are breaking forward, so he's no chance when Ainsworth sets off on a run forward. Jevo's game is playing just behind a conventional strikers position as everyone has witnessed from all the available video clips on his goals. There are very few that he has scored from 6 yds and under. He will never be a goal poacher, but he is a good goal scorer despite this years stats. He is an undervalued player IMO but he is not really what we need at the moment. He might be brilliant playing off a strong CF, but so might Parker. Both these players are quality in my eyes even if we can't use them effectively yet. It seems likely that to keep both would be a bit of an extravagance so I suppose it is a choice between the two.

Parker doesn't get into goalscoring positions. He doesn't seem to have a football brain.

I think Jevons is a very good and valuable member of our team! He is extremely undervalued as grist mentioned. Parker seems to have no awareness at all, yes he scored a quality goal yesterday, but there was times when he picked the ball up in between midfield and defence where he could have turned, but yet he ran back, this is where jevons is quality, his awareness and team play i think is second to none at this level and would be at championship level. He is lacking confidence, but how aggreived would we feel if we were to let him go, and then him bang in the goals for another club.

Jevons is nicely working his way back to form... two goals, nice link-up work... he's fine

He is a proven goalscorer - given the right supply and right team mate he will provide what is needed.

It's not about Jevon's lack of ability, It's about his lack of pace compared to Ainsworth..

Jevon's movement off the ball and inteligence on the pitch compliment the speed of others around him, just needs a physical presence to compliment him a bit more.

Nothing against Jevons but he is not our long term answer. yesterday he scored a good goal but after that he did very little. Lee Clark is getting the team to play with a lot more speed of thought and movement, but we need a couple of strikers who fit into this system and who will have the pace to make the opposition defenders make mistakes. One thing for sure our manager will act on any weaknesses in the system but after all he has only just started to build the jigsaw that will soon make us one hell of a team.

I've supported Jevons the whole season, just ask the guys I go to games with!
When I told them "he'll come good, don't worry!", nobody replied. OK so he's only scored 2, but he's got to start somewhere...
Ooh Phil Jevons! Ooh Phil Jevons!

Jevo 2 in 3. My prediction is starting to bear fruit.
What odds first goalscorer tomorrow?

Jevons will score the first tomorrow. Lionel will latch onto a weak backpass and square it for Jevons.

I think that if we played with two pacy strikers they’d both tend to make similar runs. Much better to give one player the target job and leave the another to play off him. If you watch the Jevons video most of his goals from open play are where he picks up the second ball. That’s why I’d like Cads to start up front tomorrow with Jevons and Pilkington and Ainsworth wide.
