This is the same interview that has been talked about all weekend in numerous Smithies threads.

We will get more for him if we sell him now than we will at that useless tribunal.
Recall Glennon, drop Smithies and sell him
Surely the length and value of the contract we offer him will be taken into account at the tribunal? So it's in our interest to put a good/improved offer on the table for him

In which case, there is no need to sell him unless he is holding out for stupid money.

it wouldn't seem quite as bad had we offered less than what was asked........but we offered exactly what was asked.........to then be told the goalposts have moved after agreeing to pay what was asked for is hardly going to endear himself to the fans or the club-however if he wont sign a contract and doesnt leave in january,if we keep him in til the end of the season (subject to injury/suspension) then the tribunal may say we can have that bit extra money for him

When the club say they put a 7 figure sum on his head, surely that won't count for anything unless he goes before the end of the season - so surely clubs will just wait until he is a bargain in summer and we get much less for him. Bummer?

Bummer? Yep. We must sort this out sooner rather than latter and playing him rather than Glennon is just going to put him in the shop window for him/his agent How much did that tribunal award us for Facey when he went to Bolton? Don't recall it been much at all

Only thing that might make me think it would be less than a million is Bostock to Spurs.
He is also a youth international.

Can't understand why Smithies won't sign and then move anyway as per normal?

As much as I don't like Glenda I thought Clarky said he only wanted players who wanted to play for us!
I'd drop him if him & his agent are p*****g us about - he after all is a lower div. keeper who has played a handful of games!

Oh is agent will be behind it alright, I think smithies in his heart wants to stay with town the club he has been with since the age of 8, he would have seen town slump to the basement division of the football league and now seeing them on the way up with a good future prospect it seems i'm sure he will want to be apart of that. However is agent must be putting into his head that playing in the reserves of a premier league club would be better for him. Prime example is that keeper Jon Ruddy is it? Where is he these days?

Where is he these days? 22 years old and has had more clubs than Arnold PalmerAnother one who saw the bright lights and will probably end up falling down the leaguesAnd anotherAnd Sean Allaway doesn't even have a Wikipedia page... The world is full of former 'promising' goalkeepers. Alex would do well to remember this...
