What I cannot understand is those clubs that missed the deadline.
It t's the fault of the FA (no staff there as they couldn't get in because of the weather) - then clubs shouldn't be penalised, however, if they have been talking all day, and the player suddenly decides at 4.45 to sign, then clubs (Leeds for Dickinson) can't complain.
If a player has been talking all day, and does decide late on, then they have obviously holding the club to ranson to get more money.
Also Leeds Chief Exec, Harvey, is complaining that the FA should allow the details to go through, even though they were 14 minutes late, have no leg to stand on - Rules are rules for goodness'sake - although I suppose that comment to Bates et a is not worth the effort to write it !!!

Don't think Leeds are to blame this time, apparently it was Derby who were waiting to tie the Porter deal up, Leeds did everything they could to get it done on time.
Seems a bit unfair when the premier league extended the window due to the weather situation but the football league wouldn't budge an inch.
The club seem to think they can still get him on loan when the emergency window opens, I'm not really that fussed either way now we have super Grella, ella, ella, hey hey hey, now we have super Grella, ella, ella..........

Fair Comment Hull If Derby have been at fault, then Leeds have been hard done to
Does seem strange that the Premier League and the Football League have difrerent interpretatins of what they can do to help (i.e overturning Red Card (eg Lampard and Worthington at Accrington a few years ago))

The whole damned thing's a farce. A deadline's a deadline's a deadline!
Do you think the tax office will allow you to submit your tax returns late? No ... you get fined ...
It's the same the world over where deadlines are concerned.
The window has been open for a month - clubs should have done their deals earlier. EVERY deal concluded/submitted/received after the deadline should now involve a player sitting in the stands until August.

One of the problems is that the FA insist on documents being faxed. Even with several numbers, which presumably they have, if lots of clubs are trying to fax documents at the same time, then if it's close to the 5pm deadline, they could just be getting the engaged signal all the time. It seems ridiculous that they don't accept scanned documents that are emailed to them. What is the difference? It looks like L666ds were too late anyway, but we appear to have been caught out as well. Lee Clark was talking about busy fax machines on the radio last night.
