I don't normally take any notice of a single game or result, I usually prefer to take an overview but Saturday’s match has got me thinking differently. So far, our centenary has been a mesh-mash of optimism and bitter disappointments but surprisingly perhaps, we're still in with a chance of turning things round and scrapping into a play-off place. With sixteen games left that claim is certainly not out of the question.
So here we are with our close neighbours and rivals Leeds Utd standing between us and what I feel could be the beginning of a promotion clinching run-in. I certainly hope this is how our management and players see it too. In which case, the Leeds Utd game has become 'pivotal' to the remainder of our season. Okay, if we lose it's not all over by any means, however if we win, the momentum both on and off the field could carry us into the remaining games with renewed excitement and total optimism.
Looking at the following fifteen games I'd say going unbeaten is not impossible either. If our attitude is right and belief is there, the sky's the limit in my view. We all know our players are good enough. So come on you Terriers let’s hit our true form and potential, starting with the ones we love to hate. Then we’ll see what unfolds.

The pivotal moment will surely be if either of these two new chaps can stick the ball in the onion bag - I think the rest of the team are doing pretty well.
I think the real pivotal moment was the parting of the ways with Ternent as this turned the whole club round, unforunately we lost a third of the season before that happened.
That said I think we have a chance of the play-offs but we really need to win 3 of our next 4 games. If we can get past the MKD game within 3-4 points of the 6th team (and ideally with that team having no more than a game in hand) then our run-in looks OK - anything would then be possible.
Winning on Saturday is all about 3 points and the extra confidence beating this particular opposition will bring to the club.
The pivot was the sacking of Ternent, this game could be the start of a great run...it's down to the beast and the kid from Everton really...
Rivalries aside, with the likelihood of no Beckford I don't think this mob are that great. If we can play as we have shown in recent games (Yeovil aside) we could win this well....

Love that optimism fella. Unfortunately, Yeovil and Hartlepool were the pivotal games, and we did not perform.
Whilst it's mathematically possible I still believe we have a slim chance, but given that our season depends on other results going our way I would say this weekend is no more pivotal than the next game, and the next game, and the next game etc etc etc......

We need to win Saturday, if we harbour any hopes of the play offs.
Beckord being out means less of a goal threat, and our defence would have been susceptible to the kind of goals he can produce. Having said that, he doesn't do much else other than score and chuck his teddy out of the cot. Leeds may actually be harder to play against without him, but be less threatening as a result.
The lads will be desperate to make up for the dissapointment of not scoring against Hartlepool, and I think we'll come out all guns blazing. Ainsworth and Pilkington will have the Leeds fans groaning about Bates's lack of investment in players. (Thank you DH). If we can score an early goal, I think we could actualy have one of our most convincing victories this season.

Get back into a positive goal difference?!........

knowing town though, as we do, they will beat leeds and optimism will be high "we are gonna make the playoffs" etc
then next week we will go to crewe and lose miserably....
the only pivotal moment will be when we are actually confirmed as having been promoted out of this league - until then - we have seen all of this "new dawns, turned the corner, pivotal moment" about a million times before...!

Totally agree AceT; this is the game we have to win to show that we are still in with a chance. Also, it’s an interesting coincidence that the other “pivotal” game this season was against Leeds.

Most of the Leeds Utd fans are nervous about this match.
For the first time in years(and despite our lack of goals) I make Town favourites to win this match.

Yep too much hype going into this game, and the two new lads already seem to have a lot of expectation for them to just start scoring.
Our chances of winning have increased with beckford been out, but i am not expecting anything, and would not be too dissapointed with a defeat, as long as we put a decent performance in

I have a bit of a bad feeling as well. I really hope the management team and new players just know what this means to the fans. However as most of them don't live in or around Huddersfield and probably have hardly visited the place prior to the last 6 months or spent much time here I just hope it's not lost on them how big a deal this is for most Town fans Gone are the days of Rob Edwards going into Morrisons and getting told "get 'em beat on Saturday Rob" etc ... unless Preston and Manc have bumped into some of the Lancs contingent in the supermarket On the other hand, the L**ds lot owe there fans after two defeats, there fans are expecting them to put on a show and they will know it! I expect them to be massively up for this, more so than any of the 3 derby meetings in the last 15 months! I still think Town can win, but the lads will first have to earn the right to play the pretty stuff we've been used to!

Having been involved in Newcastle/Sunderland, Liverpool/Everton games i'm sure they might just know what it means to the fans. Also dont forget we still have a big homegrown contingent in the side with Smithies, Clarke, Holdsworth, Collins and possibly Booth on bench. Think positive folks!!

I really don't see the point in being negative about our team. In my view supporting your team should be built on positive vibes. There are some fans amongst us who moan and groan endedlessly all match long and I just can't understand them. I say let's put all our energies into supporting our lads, especially tomorrow!
Long live the Might Bright Blue and Whites!
