Its a petition i got off of another Football Forum to bring back standing areas at football grounds. Not a big fan of online petitions, but just thought I would post it up for people to sign if interested. petitions.number10.gov.uk/footballstand/Also what do you lot prefer standing or seating?

Combination would be the best. My ideal Galpharm would have the South Stand for Town fans as safe standing as well as a couple of blocks of the Antich.

I have said more than once that the ideal solution would be a section of the ground as terraces for standing so that those devotees could be accommadated.
Just a shame that the regulators/lawmakers can not use a bit of lateral thinking and make this legal option for Clubs to offer to fans.

Bring back terracing. They have in the Bundesliga, charge only a few quid to get in and get massive crowds. Seats were foisted on us as a massive over reaction to Hillsborough.

You can guess from my username too! I stood on the home terrace behind the goal in the Westfalen Stadium in Dortmund last season. It holds 25,000 and was full. No trouble at all and a fantastic atmosphere. Sadly we have lost that here. There is absolutely no problem with properly managed terraces. Overcoming the prevalent and futuous health and safety mentality is another matter completely.

Sadly there is little or no chance of seeing a return of terracing in English football stadiums. The one positive I take from Town be relegated to League 2 was that we could stand up everywhere we went away. Personally I cant see how it is unsafe if properly managed (Hillsborough was caused by too many people and a huge fence), although the incumbent safety officer probably could manage a sneeze without bolloxing it up.

They do something in Germany where in all seater stadiums they can fold the chairs back and make it terracing...
Thats what they should do in england but them pillocks from FA & government wont allow it
