Gary Roberts is left to roam just behind the striker. If we'd have done a straight swap at half-time today (Werlinger for Ainsworth) we probably would have gone on to win by more goals. Roberts's movement and workrate is 2nd to non and he's got the engine to get from one side of the pitch to the other on more occasions than anyone else in our side. His movement and pass and move in the middle of the park brings Collins and Goodwin into the game more often and his trickery opens up many options for other players. The only downside is Butler, Clarke, Holdsworth and Williams have to sort it out who joins in with the attacks because when Roberts loses the ball (not often mind) it more often than not leads to a break away for the opposition.

I think his best position is on the left but I thought he dropped into the hole excellently today and found himself the space to get on the ball and play as we know he can (especially in the first half).

As long as hes able to turn and run at people therefore playing his natural game. At times today i thought he was a bit too far forward and was therefore playing with his back to goal, which is a totally different game, and one that Lukas looked very good at.

I think he is a cracking player, but he needs to learn when to give the ball and not be ball greedy sometimes.
Not really a criticism, more an observation.

I actually think he had one of his worst Town games to date. I would play him just behind Lucas too, and the way he dropped off into the hole was terrific, but he did nothing with the ball once he got it. I think he's a class act and will play much better than this in the future. I also think he needs to work on his communication with Ainsworth cos the two of them certainly weren't on the same page today. I don't mean this to sound like I'm criticising Roberts, as I do rate him highly - I bet he'd say he could have done a lot better today too.

I think today was more of a lack of match practice after the 3 match ban, still showed glimpses of the class act he is.

He looked like he could be a success in that position but he was off the pace today, hopefully he'll be back on his game next week
