Can tell he is going to be a real good player for us! His statistics and goal to game ratio is very good! ;D Can I just ask, this guy has been without a club for so long, what took us so long? This guy finished played football when he was like 27??? And its been well broadcasted that he wanted to get back into football, so why didnt we sign him when he was , say 29?

Why hasn't anyone else signed him since he was 29?? Thats what worries me, he hasnt shown enough quality at any of the club's hes been at since his accident to warrant a long term contract, or even a first team game...

He was class but his bike accident which nearly killed him ruined his career and he could no longer cut it at the top. Seems he has got his passion back for the game and is looking to prove himself again

"In the summer of 2006, Jansen had a trial with the New York Red Bulls but the move led to nothing permanent due to rival team Columbus Crew allegedly exercising a loophole in transfer rules to block any move. Bolton manager Sam Allardyce invited the player back to England and he continued to train with Bolton. In the summer of 2007 he returned to his original club, Carlisle United, to train in an attempt to regain his fitness.[1]"

Not saying I know the answers, but consider this as a possibility. I believe where he has mainly been trialing at in that time was premier league clubs (bolton and blackburn), and to be fair, he probably is past premier level. So the question for me is he going to be effective at the league one championship level? My only answer is that is Clark and his management team believe he can do a job (say if we dont get the beast sorted out) on a short term contract (with an option at season end to extend), than I would be happy to give it a go. Some questions yes, but as more than one person has said, odds are he will offer more than jevons or parker so why not go for it.

the lad had a horrific bike acceident and took along time to recover from he since had problem comign to terms with not being the same player he was.
by the sounds of it hes got the desire back and maybe he could do a job at our level, he was training with blackburn for a bit and being round few clubs, apparently carlisle offered him a deal until summer.
i say give few resevers games if he gets few goals give him short tern until summer and see what he can do, if he can find any of the positional abilility he had he'll fire a few in for us i reckon

had the same thought myself re Blackie. If he still needs support and somebody to instill belief in him then he's possibly at the best place of all.

theres some excellent quotes in that interview!
especially how hes regained his mental side and likes to do it because he feels hes helping the team rather than being critised!
The bit about him being instinctive is GREAT TOO.

More than anything the interview shows that hes not lost his ability it is just mental. and the pressures of premier league and living upto expectation maybe too great, however, down in league one it maybe different...
however, if we do give him a go, hope the fickle fans dont jump on his back straight away if he has a poor shot or game, sounds like he could end up in peices.

Lets not get carried away with one goal for the reserves. Remember Parker and Jevons have scored a few reserve goals this season. I'll trust Clark's judgement on this one, if he feels he's worth a contract he'll get one, but I doubt anything will be decided for a while.

Your right .. but watching him tonight he would deffo make it at league one level. Reserve matches are hard to judge a player, he needs to get match fit and given a chance in the first team. Offer him a contract to end of season

I seem to remember him being a similar player to Marcus Stewart when he was in his prime.

I was a Jansen fan as a kid and would love to see him here.
This club needs someone with that premiership experience and goalscoring finess something that Parker doesnt have and Jevons seems to have lost. Great finisher and good in the air. Along with that we have Blackie who could get him into the right shape and mind ready for a play-off push and i believe he has coaching badges... someone for the future maybe?
A few more ressie games to see what he is like... but I say sign him (end of season/option for one more year)up if he's in the right frame of mind/good shape!

Jansen always always had great readign of the game and good positional sense that made him the striker he was,
IMO you never loose that and if clark and blackie and get him to believe and have the passion he once had for the game then god knows what he good do for us with the chances we are creating

He only played for an hour tonigt so it's dificult to say so soon but I would say yes he did stand out tonight and seems to fit in with Boothy well.

If he can get his confidence and quality back, and stay half fit he is more than capable at this and Championship level. Look at Windass, still been doing the business at. what, 45?........... And most have been foaming at the mouth about KP and he is plenty older than Jansen.

The reason for him not being around and playing games after he was at Carlisle United was because he quit the game. he got back into things big sam took charge at blackburn but he told him it to early for him and he needs to play games. this is were this mutual friend came in with big sam and lee took advantage of it. Thats what iv heard anyway BOOOOOOOM! One goal on town books already!

i think this might be another unsworth in disguise, we were all positive, including me about him at the start of the season. He had a few good games and then wat.... utter rubbish and doesn't deserve to play in the side. i think we have enough older players that are yet to prove themselves already

IMO You are positive about any new signing so thats only normal Jansen or anyone else will be no different. Surely if Jansen is back and is keen then give him his oppurtunity, it's on a no gamble basis really - no transfer fee included and I carn't see him commanding a very big wage as he is trying to reastablish himself.

Yeah but the end of the season is only 3 months away - if we had given Unsworth a 3 month contract and released him there would be no complaints. Giving him a 1 or 2 (in Lucketti's case) deal seems a poor choice now.
Same as Jansen - wouldnt do any harm (if he is fit and sharp enough) to give him until the end of the season.
He cant be any worse than Jevons and Parker (surely!) so is probably worth a go.

Id Defo sign him til end of season, he could prove to be invaluable.... looks like the beast will never get clearance !! I wouldnt be surprised to see Clark give him a chance, can see him getting a short contract and tbh the lad probably deserves a last chance.... and if it doesnt work, whats the problem !!

I'd consider a contract to the end of the season with a view to a further year or and 18 month deal. Strikers never lose that goalscoring instinct, look at Owen even though he has been ruined by injury and has lost a few yards of pace he still finds tha back of the net.
I'd look at hime for 2 more games before deciding.
