Any idea why we refuse to use his pace and look to Roberts every time we get it? Ainsworth lost the ball most times he got it today but that was a result of hardly being in the game. He needs the ball played in behind the full back for him to chase after but i havent seen one pass played that way for him since he joined. He also only seems to receive the ball when a man is on him but when he has come to the ball to lose his man, no one ever seems to give him it.
If he wasn't injured, then that was a shocking decision from Clark to take him off. You don't take off a player like Ainsworth who can change a game in a second for someone like Craney.

Ainsworth did struggle today and he seemed to have very little room to work when he did get the ball.
I'd guess they were swapped wings because it was such a narrow game, so this gave them chance to cut inside.
What annoyed me a lot more was Lukas playing as a second winger. Fair enough, he set up the goal but he should have been in the box, not putting the crosses in.

Jevons, Parker and now Lukas have mastered the art

Yep and this is partly the reason why he will probably fail at town, because town fans wont give you a chance unless you get stuck in. Messi would be subject to boos within his first month for being "soft as shit" as you put it.

Ainsworth is 2 soft at the moment and the only way town were going 2 win today was if the wingers got as wide as possible

If Ainsworth flies in to tackles then he'll just get snapped and he'll be out.
Personally I didn't think he had a bad game, considering the chances and the ball he saw.

The run just before half time where he skinned his man and put in a great ball with his weaker foot showed what he is all about. If he saw the ball a bit more, we might see some more of that

We missed him when he went off last week - he lost the ball on a number of occasions last week (something he needs to work on - when to pass, when to cross etc) but he cuased no ends of problems, stretched the team, made them defend five yards deeper, creating space for the midfield/roberts in the hole and giving us a vital outlet. Goal came from the corner which was from a move involving ainsworth.

Didn`t boo him or say i didn`t rate him,in fact i think he`s a decent winger but when he shit out of a 50/50 early in the 2nd half just shows why his kit won`t need to be washed every week.

I love the way he tries to head the ball when it's miles over his head.
Would help if those balls weren't being pinged over his head in the first place mind.

only thing anyone could hold against lionel today was that he didn't appear to shout for the ball and then didn't give any one a bollocking for ignoring him. Was always looking for space and a quick through ball would have seen him behind the deffenders on numerous occasions. He only got the ball when there was noone else availible, he got a big cheer when someone finally gave it him.
Thought Roberts was poor, he came inside far too often leading to the midfield being crowded and the town players tripping up over each other.
don't think playing 5 in midfield worked at all, was all very pedestrian

Idont think he lost the ball or gave it away last week as often as Roberts but the sun seems to shine out of Robbos arse to most on here

Can't disagree with Moaner...
Maybe we'll see the brilliant winger I've expected, soon. But so far, I've not seen anything great from the kid. Bad first touch, constantly runs ball out of play, and not seen him cross many balls....

Roberts has been poor now for a couple of months save the odd flash here and there! He was very poor today - kept coming infield and further congesting things and trying little flicks/shimmies in the wrong areas. Second half he might as well have joined collins in the stand!!! That said, roberts and ainsworth both have real touches of quality at times, but they like all wingers will infuriate and enliven the crowd in equal measure. Just hope next week we go at stockport properly and not with a new fangled system that simply doesnt suit the players!

I think a lot of town fans would rather have a team of nutcase hardmen ala Bullock/Cowan/Horne. Whats needed is a blend, which we dont have at the moment. We have too many 'footballers'. Ainsworth is never going to put his foot in, and why should he? its not his game, he hasn't got the physique to, and isn't a requirement of his position.

Dennis Wise,Lee Clark neither of them had the "physique for it" but they did it.

So that means everyone should? And just getting stuck in makes them a good player or not?
I agree that we are too soft and that we need some 'steel' but not in a 5 foot 6 9 stone wet winger, whos job is to beat men and get the ball in the box.

Because they had too. Especially wise, he was a holding midfielder.
Ainsworth is the Lennon (not John) of league 1. Were lucky to have such a class act.

Did you see the 50/50 he shit out of that lead to them having yet another attack in the 2nd half or were you too busy reading womans own?

Whats the point in trying to have a discussion with you Moaner? Everytime someone has a reasoned discussion with you you just fire off an insult.

seems to me some on here just want to blame individual players that in true came from ateam who made mistakes all over the pitch yesterday. Yes Ainsworth pulled out of a 50-50, but the service he recieved while on the pitch was dreadfull. balls from goodwin where never to his feet, more like flying over his head. roberts gave the ball away yesterday far more than anyone to help crewe set up attacks, through a 5 man midfield that on the whole did not have a clue what to do all afternoon.

It wouldn`t matter what i wrote on here,to some they`d just disagree for the sake of it.

Yeah your right, the whole boards against you I'm disagreeing with you cos i have a different opinion to you, not cos its you. Fact is he's a flair player, do you see Ronaldo, Messi, Joe Cole, Lennon or pretty much most wingers flying into challengers and getting filthy? Every difference of opinion with you on here, you interprete as confrontational.

I`d say that was cheating yourself, the fans & your team mates.

Fine, i'll reword my question. Do you see the above named players going in for 50/50's? Are they all cheating themselves, fans and team mates then?
