The other view is that their players might want to give him a good send off...

Doesn't surprise me. However bad the situation is at Stockport, Brighton really isn't an attractive proposition for a manager at the moment.

I'm very surprised he's stayed considering how close they are to administration, the problems with Sale, and the fact he has already said his job is untenable. This is going to give them all a big boost for Saturday isn't it

I'm very surprised he's stayed considering how close they are to administration, the problems with Sale, and the fact he has already said his job is untenable. I'm sure he'd leave for a job with a club at a higher level or even a decent league 1 club. But if he left to go to Brighton, he could easily end up with a relegation on his CV. His future job prospects will be much better doing a decent job with Stockport with all there problems at the moment, than they would be if he goes to Brighton and can't keep them up. By saying his job is untenable he's alerted other clubs that he's available, and now can stay at Stockport while waiting for an attractive job offer to come along.

He's also given himself an excuse if Stockport's season falls apart from now on.
