Interesting that Broadbent is playing alongside Novak at Gateshead. What are the chances of seeing these two as first choice strikers for Town next season?!?!?!?! on tues broadbent wasnt as good as novac and i dont really think will be good enough He's nearly 18 months younger than Novak though, is he even 19 yet? Plus he's been at Gateshead 5 mins so he'll be finding his feet at first Give him chance he's currently the best Apprentice in League One and a former England schoolboy international. That's very good pedigree

I watched quite a bit of the academy in the last three years and certain players stand out, Skarz and Berrett did in there year and Smithies and Broadbent in there's IMO. Given a decent crack I have confidence Broadbent can make the grade in League One

Collins and Berrett have a lot to prove before renewing their contracts

Sorry dont agree. They have been the constant through are years of mediocraty. For us to move on we need to get away from this core of homegrown players which arent good enough to get us promoted Gareth Barry has been at Villa about 10 years, most of which they spent faffing around in the bottom half/mid table much like us. By your logic they'd have got rid of him, not fought tooth and nail with Liverpool to keep him. No because that is just one player, i am talking about a core of players that seem to get contracts every two years, despite years of mediocraty. Time to move on all sides IMO, although i would love to be proved wrong

It was said tongue in cheek fellas (notice the multiple use of the exclamation mark!) That's a great Avatar you have there Culpers if I may say so. How did you find it? Only ask as it's a picture of me!

Interesting to see we've offered Roberts a new contract already.
Did Stan sign him up on 2 years?

Why are we extending Collins and Berrett? Probably becuase they are 2 of the best of the homegrown players to come through into the first team.......

Have you been drinking floyds?!?
You seem to be turning into stan! By your logic, aston villa would have sold gareth barry years ago becaiuse for years they were mediocre.
Instead martin o'neill has built a strong team around the quality he inherited rather than just satying the whole lot were rubbish i.e. in barry, added where he has been able to do so i.e. milner, sidwell, friedel, young and promoted the club's better youth players i.e. agbonglahor.
We needed 6 quality players last summer not 12 decent players including 3 central mids. We now need 3/4 quality players.
I imagine out in the summer will be - kamara, unsworth, worthington. I think they'll look to release lucketti (2 year contract), flynn (3 year), and either parker/jevons (difficult to see both). Probably boothy to retire.
He's brought in qulaity and depth on the wings to give us options and these players he has offered contracts to are of the same ilk - quality, still developing, good techically, good fitness levels etc. Cadamarteri doesn't fit into that but he's a risk worth taking - more of a bemefit him being fit than a risk he's not.
Roberts is a clever proactive move if he's on a 2 year - get it sorted now.
In?.....We need another centre half to compete with nathan/butler/tom; some right sided cover/competition and two strikers (aside from novak).
Speaking of novak - I can't see us having novak, broadbent and denton -2 of 3 I'd guess. I'd suggest they see something in broadbent by partnering him with novak and its a clever move imo if that is the case for 2/3 years time.
