In the April issue of Q, the author David Peace (The Damned Utd") is interviewed. He's apparently a Town fan (and talks of his hatred of L**ds). In the interview he states "His career at L**ds was bookended by games with Huddersfield - both of which we won". Now I don't normally pick arguments with award winning novelists but I thought NEITHER of which we won. I think the first game was Steve Smith's testimonial which we lost (2-1, I admit I had to check the score, although I was confident we got beat) and the second the league cup game which we drew (1-1, eventually losing in a second replay). Can anyone confirm if I'm right? PS The book is excellent well worth a read. PPS If anyone knows Mr Peace (and if I'm right!) point him at this thread & I'll put myself forward as a factual adviser on his next book/film.

I submitted a note on DATM on Monday about him being interviewed in the Observer, but there was only cursory reference to his love of Town. The Q article sounds better.
I'm not a great grammarian, and suggest you seek advice from Ernest Gower's "Plain Words", the "bible" for those seeking to follow sound grammar.

I'm reading the book now. Only about a fifth of the wat through it. Unique writing style, gets a bit tiresome after a while, but it still grabs your attention!

Kind of agree epsomterrier - overall really enjoyed The Damned United but I found the 2nd person perspective approach to writing quite tiresome too... Having said that, I'm going to search out his other work and am looking forward the the Riding series that is coming to TV. Seems a top bloke and a genuine Town fan too!

Saintly
I'm a bit confused over your reply.
I know DATM has contained over the last few days a number of arguments about grammar but this was a pure football issue.
Did we win both of the games against Leeds or Lose one & Draw one.
........or is the intention of your post to point out my grammar is so poor that you think I should forget worrying about football and go and read a book about grammar instead?

The results were just as you say, andyeastleake. I can still remember Lorimer's 94th minute volley equalising in the League Cup match.

Sheer misunderstanding on my behalf - no reflection on your writing capability. It's not as if I'm writing from a position of strength.
No idea about the results - I'm afraid - don't have my Town reference books at work with me today.
Pax.
