Not on a pitch like today though. Given how Roberts has played in the last 3 games, i'd have pilkington and ainsworth on the wings on tuesday

I thought Clark made the right shout today playing Cads, he had a great game.

I wouldn't drop Cads, been a very good player for us this term. But we must find a way to accommodate Ainsworth and Pilks into the starting line up, if at least for the next few games. I feel Roberts must make way, judging by recent performances. I think Pilkington could be effective more central or more advanced, even Ainsworth. But I feel Town are shooting themselves in the foot by not having this lad on the pitch. He skins full backs without blinking, with consistently threatening balls into the box, can you honestly say Roberts has matched that since his return from suspension.
Lionel would walk into any other L1 team, so why not ours?

looking at the pitch - it was 100% the right choice to start ainsworth on bench, pilkington was amazing today - and think what the reaction would have been should roberts not have started? think your spot on with ainsworth and pilks on tues though - hope so anyway

Roberts cost us the game today imo. If you are through pretty much one on one with the ball sat perfectly on your left foot to smash it past the keeper why the hell do you cut back on to your right (the foot that he never uses) and run straight in to the centre back.

Roberts has terrific ability but has been a virtual passenger for many games recently - havent been today, but thought he was crap at crewe and v average against leeds as well. Problem is, some think his ability alone should get him in the team every week!

It'll be easy to accommodate all them next few games. Pilks played inside for Stockport and with Goodwin suspended that where I expect him to play, with Roberts on left and ainsworth on right

It'll be Craney or Berrett in to replace I reckon.

Poor game today by his standards, he hasn't looked the same player since his suspension. Ainsworth should definitely start on Tuesday.

Yes very poor by his standards, unlike at Leicester where he was excellent, the bit he played in. Was surprised it took Clark so long to sub him, he looked knackered after half time. Might be me but Im not ovely impressed by the polish kid, ok hes young but in the situation we are in we need somebody who has been there and done it already. Another good game by Cads.

Jukievich is a decent player, but he's not a goalscorer. He did well for Collins' goal and held the ball up well a couple of times, but he's never going to be prolific.

I'm sitting on the fence a bit about Roberts because I have never rated him as highly as the vast majority of Town fans. I don't get to as many games as I would like, so I always assumed that he performed brilliantly in the games I missed. In the games I have seen, he has been a decent player, but the final product has been sorely lacking despite very promising moments during the build up.
Personally, I would not be too depressed if he was sold since Cads Ainsworth and Pilks offer good cover. His brilliant contributions are not frequent enough for me to feel that he is essential and his 'not too brilliant' occasions are too frequent for me to feel that one of the others could not be doing a better job. I'm also happy if he stays, but if I was the manager I would be working hard on him so that he clearly recognises the role that is expected of him and the contributions that are vitally required as opposed to aspirationally required.
Ipswich fans and management faced exactly the same dilemma so there is a lot of work to be done here if he is to retain his place in the team IMO.
I was surprised when we bought both Pilks and Ainsworth because I could not see where all our winger/midfield stars would play, but then I thought that perhaps one of our 4 stars (DC, LA, AP, GR) was not in the managers thoughts for the future. It makes sense to part with one of them, so who would you choose?

I don't think Ainsworth has done enough to warrant a place ahead of Roberts just yet. It was no great suprise that Roberts was not at his best on the beach yesterday but I don't think Ainsworth would have faired much better. Sounds like Clark has a selection headache when they are all available and that must be a good thing. I don't think we should "accomodate" them all. We have a system in place and we must pick the players to suite that system. The others good though they may be must simply bide their time and stake their claim when they get the opportunity.
Booth back, Cads back, quality midfielders fighting for places, maybe it was a good day after all.

Ainsworth will skin his defender 90% of the time gets the ball. He can put a cross in. One half against Leeds, he showed more penetration and threat than all of our team collectivity going forward for the full 90. To have these two new signings slum it out on the bench whilst Roberts continues to flatter to deceive is a footballing crime.

Roberts cost us the game today imo. Or Ainsworth blasting one ten yards over the top with just the keeper to beat.

Also, where ever Moaner 30 is lurking today. Got to agree and say is ainsworth is soft as shit. I wasn't too keen, when he backed out of that challenge on the wing in the 2nd half yesterday.
