Today we saw roughly 1800 (not including those in the Pop Stand) fans standing for an entire game, in a stand that is designated as 'seated', with absolutely no hassle or bother from any of the stewards.
Nobody was hurt, no trouble kicked off, and it made a great change to be able to just stand freely and watch the game.
So why the big fuss at so many other grounds including ours?
Well done Stockport I say.

Seriously!
Our stewards are widely known as the worst in the league. One dragged a young female southend fan out of her seat the other week! It was the same with leeds and oldham, if they have decent numbers, they leave them alone.
Consider yourselves very lucky. None of that in the Cheadle End today anyway.

same happens with us. they stewards pick on the minority. but when a big following comes like leeds. They do nothing.

The instructions must have come from above to leave us be. Right at the beginning a couple of the stewards were asking people to sit down until their supervisor told them to leave us to it.
You're right though, just goes to show that a full stand of football fans doesn't mean they will automatically revert to neanderthals!

neanderthals would have had the sense to bloody well sit down if the had paid for the seats

Anyone see the steward sticking two fingers up at the Town fans in the bottom corner? He got some stick for it though "This crowd's too big for you!"

If people want to stand to watch a game then fine but as long as other peoples views are blocked and there is no trouble yesterday was a good example everyone stood together and it made for a good atmosphere.

Why did they bother putting seats in? It surely made it more dangerous than if it was a terrace. I nearly fell down the gap trying to see the far corner as the seats weren't up against the step infront.
Still, it was a very enjoyable day. Particularly the first 89 minutes!

He was responding to chants of "Get a proper job" and as he walked past us he put 2 fingers up and actually said "I have two jobs" to which we came back at him with "This crowd's too big for you" ;D Quality banter

Standing in seating areas is considered far more dangerous than standing on terraces designed for standing. If they ae going to allow it it would be safer to remove the seats, but keep the capacity as it was with the seats in. The open end at Stockport was originally a standing terrace which would have had a capacity of well over double the number presently allowed.
