Did anyone else partake in the County Mastermind test today???Two of my mates infiltrated the county kop end ahead of me today. One was tasked with the post code challenge and reeled off his works one with ease and was duly ushered through. Sure enough I was quizzed and being the honest Joe I am I gave my HX post code. After getting a grasp that HX was Halifax I was asked "can you prove it with a driving licence or the like?". Back of the net I thought as I shuffled through my plastic and pointed at my post code emblazzoned across my drivers licence. The senior goon checked the post code and raised a smile as he nodded me forward before his young apprentice (this kid is going places)pointed out that the card I was using to point out my post code was my Blue & White Foundation membership card complete with town . I was then taken to one side for a couple of minutes whilst I explained that I was indeed a town fan but was attending the game as a guest of two county fans (forgive me father for I have sinned). During this time I had to endure one poor soul who was an obvious county fan being quizzed as to "whom was the last manager before Gannon?" & "who was the last county CEO!!!?". I think that my expression of astonishment at the line of questioning and support of an obvious county fan and my "soft as sh*t demeanor" facilitated my eventual entry into the ground. The next 90 minutes passed off uneventfully except for when one of the other two left his seat just before half time and my other mate yelled "Oh Ashy mate get three pints in bud". He could not have been more Yorkshire if he'd stood there shagging a ewe!!! Great day until stoppage day. Got to say that the county fans & staff alike were first class. Its just not the same same in with them though is it.

Ha thats quality mate, fortunately i didnt have to go through the County quiz to get mine altho that is a bit pathetic.
I live in Oldham and didnt manage to get tickets so went down to the ticket office this morning, thinkin that as im in Greater Manchester i wouldnt have a problem. Sadly tho my Oldham postcode is a little too close to Huddersfield so he wasnt gonna give me them.
Realising he may start asking me bout who was Stockports leading scorer in 1955 or how many trophies theyve won, i just said i support Man United and wanted to see the game. It worked altho i dont think he was convinced.
Like you say, County fans and stewards were fine altho it wasnt the best experience ever tryin to keep quiet, especially when Mickey put us 1 up. They must have realised we were Town fans at the end when we were sat there, heads in hands at the Stockport equaliser. Gutted!!
Wont be doing it again in a hurry!

So is it official that no Stockport supporters live in Huddersfield?
That's well impressive!

My own predicament was comical enough but the interrogation of the county fan (who said his 80 year old man was already in the stand and I had no cause not to believe him) had to be seen to be believed. The interrogator was struggling to even pose the unfathomable questions that the club had given them to ask!!!
If anyone answered one of them they are welcome on my pub quiz team any day.

Ha! ;D
Excellent story, Thrice. Well played that man!
I'm soooooo gutted I didn't come (ooh er missus).
I'd convinced myself that you'd end up watching Soccer Saturday in a Stockport ale house and to be honest, I felt I had more pressing matters to attend to - can't believe you got in!
