How on earth did he miss that sitter??? Hope it wasn't a belated present to his old club.

How was it a sitter, he was being closed down, at a bit of an angle (hence the way it missed) and about 12 yards out. Roberts attempt, if you could call it that was way worse.

I'd define it a sitter because it was a sitter. My mum could have scored it with her left foot while doing the ironing.

Roberts pissed me off today... kept losing the ball then he has a great chance to put the game out of reach and what does he do.... cuts back inside and fucks it up.... defo needs dropping, we have better players imo...

Story of the season, if we had scored all our missed chances, we would be 3rd at least

If we'd won every game we'd taken the lead in we'd be sitting pretty at the top of the league. 27 points dropped this season from games when we've been in front...

We were dead in line with the ball, every time it hit the turf (mud mound) on the way to the goal it moved away slightly - not exactly a sitter, but he should have hit it with his left.

Regarding Roberts, I'm one of his biggest fans but I haven't been to the last 2 away games so I can't say either way but if he has been poor, I would agree with you that the he should be on the bench for Tuesday.
He has been our best player this season by a country mile, he carries such a burden for the team and even as a winger I see him doing running that Collins and others should be doing but aren't.
Roberts works so hard for the team and his corners and crossing are great, we just don't dominate anything in the air without Boothy.
Luckily, if he has struggled the last couple of games, we have players who could slot in to his position and he can come from the bench. That sometimes helps a player find their form again unlike when they start a game.
On Tuesday I'd go:
Pilkington Goodwin Collins Ainsworth
With Roberts on the bench.

i too have been one of roberts biggest fans, but i have to agree and say he was very poor yesterday, and probably did cost us the match.
he does work hard for the team, but i think collins does more than his fare share of running, goodwin sits in midfield wins the ball and makes a pass, a very good holding midfielder, collins does all the running around him, they work well as a pair. But yeah, roberts does run and run and run, he tries really hard and has quality talent, yeasterday just wasnt his day
ainsworth goodwin collins pilks
anyway
back to the original post, it was a great 1 2 with collins to even get in that position, he should have done better with the finish, but it was hardly a sitter, you would expect him to score 9 times out of 10, but it wasnt the best chance we created yesterday

That miss was the kind that were nestling in the back of that very same net when he played for us.

It was the same old story yesterday. Despite the shocking pitch I thought we played some nice football up until the final third when we didn't shoot/didn't put a decent cross in/had no players in the box to cross too/tried 1 pass too many (delete as applicable). Cads was class again. I know he gets injured too many times but i'd offer him a new contract. When he plays he's pretty much always the best player on the pitch. Oh and a word to the big group of 15 year old town 'hooligans' who were giving it the big I am to 5 stockport fans across 4 railway lines at stockport station singing 'Oh Lancashire is full of shit' Lancashire may indeed be full of shit however it seems rather an irrelevant song considering we were in Cheshire at the time!!

Shame Pilks missed that 'glorious' chance to put the game to bed. Maybe he still feels for the County... W*ankashire?

It was a sitter, but we've seen plenty of them this season! - Very good move between pilkington and collins but he should have at least hit the target.
