Sorry to be negative because I have nothing against Stockport fans who to me are real fans rather than a lot of the Man City/Man U drones who inhabit Stockport. But bugger me, wasn't Stockport a depressing place. Does it all look like the area between the station and the ground?

I lived near Stockport at Heaton Moor for about two years back in the 1970's and it was a bit grim then. Where I lived was great though, a train every 15 minutes into Manchester, where I worked and near enough to a very lively Didsbury and the (female) student scene. Had a fantastic time in fact. ;D

Didn't look pretty and the cafe we went in looked like it hadn't been cleaned or painted since the 80's. However, the service was good and the food was excellent.

Right - Edgeley is a dump
That does NOT mean that Stockport is. We seem to have our ground in one of the worst places in our town, but it appears a new one is on its way according to our chairman.
Parts of Stockport are very nice, and there's worse places than Edgeley to visit this year. Have you lot been to Hereford?

Nowhere is as bad as Luton though.
Or Burslum...the home of Port Vale.

It is a dump around Stockports ground, but theres some nice areas of Stockport too. An ex of mine came from there, and it was all Man City fans around there.
Main Road was bad along with Ayresome park, but the biggest dump i have been to was Swansea.

The amount of times that i get told 'County are shit' or 'go and support a good team' or 'I've supported citeh since those arabs took them over cos they're good' simply enfuriates me

Depends what way you go I enjoy the smell of gas going past the gas club and if i go to sainsburys before the game walking down the canals preety nice. But remember with the galpharm being in the north-east of the town it will always have industry surrounding it

Traditional football grounds are in traditional built up working class areas and there is nothing wrong with that. The best thing that happened to Town was the galpharm was built so close to Leeds Road ground, rathe than some poxy place out on the M62 somewhere.

I agree the venue changed for the better as it had to but the approaches and pre match drinking holes etc stayed the same. The stadium set against the Kilner bank or viewed from the hills surrounding Hudd is a beauty to behold. Were any other locations ever mooted for the new ground? I certainly cannot recall any other locations being discussed around that time.

Edgeley where the row of shops and pubs are is an absolute dive ..... was like going back in time, proper stockport is a mile down the hill next to the motorway. Who said cheshire was posh because its certainly not around there.... what a shithole !

Try going into alderley edge, bowden and hale and its posh alright. That area of Stockport is effing vile. We went to the game yesterday with a stockport supporting mate who is a great lad and even he seemed a bit embarrassed by it. I commented its a little like the strip in falaraki but without the weather or fit birds. Stockport town centre is fine though. I do all my shopping there and it has ALMOST everything you would need. People should take a look at our own surroundings before giving other teams grief.

At the moment Huddersfield town centre is a right crap hole, i'd start by knocking them flats by sports centre down. Then indoor market would go, let's face it our town centre is a shit hole, Bradford is slightly better.

We have a wasteland for a town centre here.

Can't think of a single ground that's in stunning surroundings! Wycombe's ground is. And Wycombe fans hate it – you have travel miles out of town on to a craphole industrial state to get there. There's nothing around for miles ...

Went to the imax in Bradford recently - the first time I've been to Bradford without just passing through since I was about 5.
My thoughts are that it is a bit of a crap hole in and around the centre. Places like Birkenshaw/Gomersal that have BD postcodes are pretty nice though.
I'd rather go to Huddersfield than to Bradford as a resident of neither.
