With Eastwood being offered a new contract and Smithies just signed one does anyone think Matty has a future at Town?
I would like to see him still playing for us but I doubt he will be next season...

I can't see him wanting to stay now.
I think he would have been looking to leave in January if there wasn't the possibility of Smithies leaving.

nar hes settled hes got a family and they like it here. hes a good lad with a great personality! he will keep eastwood off the bench spot when back fit and no point in letting him go as these young ones need some words of wisdom and in case of injury. matty is a good lad and i hope he stays

If he wants to stay then let him, he's a good keeper and his experience will help both Smithies and Eastwood.
However if he wants to go and somebody is willing to take him we should let him. Would be harsh to make a keeper of his age sit on the bench. He's been a good servant during a difficult time and we deserve to let him make his own choice.

If he doesnt go in the summer, i reckon we'll keep him, and send eastwood out on loan again (maybe to a league 2 side this time) as if nothing else, having him around the club could have the same effect as having unsworth and lucketti around.......ie there to pass on tip, help out with the coaching,if theyre having a few bad games give them support to help keep their chin up and to get back to having good games-just a thought

I think he'll go. At his age he's gonna want first team football and barring a lengthy injury to Smithies that just isn't going to happen here. Maybe he'll go down the one way road to Bradford ;D

And we can already see the effect of Glennon's tips and coaching on Smithies' kicking

And we can already see the effect of Glennon's tips and coaching on Smithies' kicking Surely that's got more to do with Town's keeper coach. Town's keepers kicking over the past few years has been pretty average to say the least.

I suspect he'll be off in the summer. He's a player I really like but given he's 30 he won't want to stick around if he can't get a game. Worthy (who's 25) said similar about wanting to play when he moved on loan to Yeovil (shame as he would be in my first team).
To be honest any player in the squad over the age of about 22 who isn't starting most games we will probably be looking to move and replace with better who can dislodge a current first teamer, so add Kamara (25) Unsworth (35), Flynn (28), Lucketti (37), Jevons (29), Parker (26) and Craney (26) to the list of surplus to requirements. If Booth retires that would represent 9 players all I suspect on good money gone
We have plenty of young hungry talented pros like Berrett, Novak, Tom Clarke, Skarz, Eastwood etc with another batch of good uns due this summer of the academy who could do a job from the bench.
No need to have players in their mid to late 20's and 30's blocking there progress, and I doubt players in that age bracket want to sit on the bench in any case
