Really we all thought that the team assembled was great, and so it should be with all the talent assembled. Results to date seem to indicate that they maybe are not all that red hot.
14 5-5-4 17-17 20 points out of 42 about 48%.
Obviously they need time but so far the "improvement" has been sporadic to say the least.
Black is supposed to great at psychology but there is little evidence of this. Clark is awful away from the Galpharm and the players seem to lack mental toughness and some certainly lack discipline, Goodwin MUST learn some self control or for all his good play he will be a liability. ALL the team both management and players need to get to grips with the lack of concentration at key moments very early and very late in games.
There is great potential at HTAFC but there is clearly a lot of hard work to be done.
Let's just hope that the management team lives up to expectations next season.

Come on David, you're experienced enough to know we have to give them time. And I don't just mean next season.

What everybody has to understand psychology is no quick fix, if it was that easy every premiership club would be challenging for the title, cognitive thoughts take time to relief, what wont help is conceding goals in the last few minutes in what it seems in every game. I know for a fact blackie is doing his upmost, its not all about mental imagery, and self talk thats needed for athletes it is a lot more than that.
I'd rather him be judged the end of next season, what you also have to realise is as a sports psychologist and practioner its not just the role of working with the players they are basically the link man between all the different areas of the management and players e.g sports coaches and nutrionists etc. they all sit down and discuss whats best for each individual, what it seems is there is a lot of introverts in the team, although this can be good in a football team you can see on the pitch with not many players commanding excluding goodwin, we need a lot more extroverts on the pitch.
Give it time, yes play offs are now probably out of reach for us, but dont forget Lee Clark has inherited basically 3 or 4 managers players, i'd rather him judged when he bring in his own squad. We have to remember although our away form is poor the club has been an awful lot more positive. We have an experienced backroom staff who have premiership and international experience. Can anyone specifically tell me any teams in league one who have this luxury? even half the teams in the championship wouldnt have this. the future is bright, but we have to remember2 months ago everybody was ruling out play offs, now we have all got too attached to making them. town have been inconsistant for so many years it will take time to get out of this theme, but i know it will come good. I know we all pay our money and want the best, but doesnt every football fan in the world want this, i do get so angry when we get so negative so easily, this is the most positive time the club has had in years, we just need to accept we will have ups and downs on the way.

I was thinking the same about Black again tonight after what was the 2nd game in succession conceding a late equaliser. Sat happened, but the team should have learnt from that & you would have thought Black would have worked on that side of things as well.
I am generally fairly optimistic about Town, but after tonight, although I'm not kicking the cat, I can't help feeling so bloody frustrated that we have thrown another great opportunity away.
Regardless of letting winning positions slip etc., you just have to face facts that we are simply not good enough, strikers that don't even appear to have efforts on target let alone actually scoring a bloody goal. We have failed to be consistent for several seasons now, we have failed to score goals, we have leaked too many daft goals. The players have to develop a winning mentality, being pleased about being unbeaten is simply not good enough - that mentality = 46 points every season...
Jeez it's hard work being a Town fan sometimes...
But I'll still support them through thick & thin...

Can anyone think of a better management team outside the premiership cos i can't. Will take time though and alot of people on here or who watch Town don't seem to understand that. How many seasons have we been saying 'push up...dont defend too deep etc etc' must have been for at least the last 5-6 years. yet it keeps happening week in week out. This won't change overnight, give the coaches time, it'll come good

( THEY WILL)Mr Negative. Thank god your 1000's of miles away and not sat next to me. You can only go by what you hear/read and can't have any concept of the players and their attributes etc, again, apart from what you hear/read yet when it comes to criticism you are an authority. Purlease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's nothing like DATM to put you in a S**T mood after a poor game. He's not even been in the job 3 months FFS!!! He's inherited a squad of underachieving academy grads and Ritchtea and Ternent's 'quality' signings and people are still annoyed we've not shot straight to the top of the league. Today was poor, 1st half dire, but christ you can't expect us to be 150% all the time we're still an average L1 club if you hadn't noticed. We've picked up quite a few bad habits under the past few management teams, most noticeably the sitting back and the inability to play under floodlights, never mind the inconsistent players and 'hoofball' instincts, but you can't demand these kind of things to be eradicated over night!
I should have learnt to avoid this place by now unless we've won 3-0 with Brazilian football.
And as a P.S. Clark's Post match interview. He's hit every nail on the head there, and he's standing up to be counted. If the players do what he's asked them to do ie pass short not long, give Smithies options, etc, and it doesn't work then he'll take the blame for poor tactics. Once he gets these kind of things ingrained into this squad and we start producing our potential more consistently, we're away!
