Holdsworth hasn't had the best seasons, but he could have done a damn lot more than collins and craney in midfield today. I've stood up for collins a lot from ridiculous wuestions such as just what does he do apart from socre goals, win games in the last few minutes and the fittest player in the squad? But today he needed to have a bit more in his game which he didn't. As for craney, awful. Although most of you on here wanted him to play, as I asked last night, if craney played with collins, who would sit? Pressumably craney? Answer, neither. Sorry lee, nit done much wrong thus far, but as I said y'day, berrett should have started. I think craney was supposed to be doing, but whilst he got a few blocks in, picked up a few loose balls his positioning, tracking back was appalling. Two instances spring to mind 1) Hesitated on thh ball, leading to lucketti's booking and 2) We were attacking a corner, they broke and it was 2 of their attackers v 3 of our defenders, cranet jogged back, hudson-esque, 3 players went passed him and holdsworth managed to get the ball to smithies. Hugely disappointed in craney today. As for holdsworth, he has the quality, versatility needed. He hasn't had the best of seasons, but as he showed last season, he is a central midfielder who can play right back. As much as thrice et al hate to admit it, he won every award hands down in midfield, made as many asssists as steven gerrard and gareth barr did in the prem and the most in league 1. Yet, according to turnip and many on here, he's not a centre mid. Crazy. Still a good right back He deserves a new contract, but needs competition. Clark wants him in any case. Good points fella - I was concerned as well about Craney and Collins and would have gone for Berrett before the game and after. Personally though I thought Andy played his best football last season as a wing back and he created a lot from that position and popped up with some goals most notably against Leeds I'd give him a contract but think that we require a new right back in fairness. For me Andy needs to fight for his natural position along with Berrett and Goodwin.

I'd\look for a right back as well.
Holdsworth can fight it out with berrett, collins, goodwin etc - and can fill in at right back.
But definitely a new contract.

Can someone please tell me what Andy's done wrong? For a start he has passed it out of play numerous times in the past two games

and yet 99% of datm moaned when holdsworth was dropped for goodwin at rightback this year. Ternent could tell he wasnt up to it, way back in September. Not good enough at this level yet we're offering him a 3 year deal. Madness

People moaned because Goodwin wasn't a better right back than Holdsworth. But the simple fact is, if you look at Holdsworth's performances over the season, neither he nor Goodwin are good enough right backs to be in a promotion winning side. Its sad because in the season we made the playoffs, I think Holdsworth was good enough but the reality is, he has gone backwards.

why didnt he take lad out if he had to leave it so late to get over to him? he was poor today and that was shockign defending for the 2nd goal today Left it til he realised that Clarke wasnt going to try to get back to the lad,if he'd gone to the winger he would have passed inside to the lad who scored

I would add craney and worthy to that list. Definitely need a big clear out, we just are not good enough, all over the pitch. I wouldn't of offered holdsworth a new deal, be better for us and his career if he got a new challenge. Our squad is just short on options and quality and big on numbers, Clark has a massive job in the summer to turn that set of clowns into anything like a decent side. Tom Clarke would be on that list for me,cant understand the new contract offer or how he gets in the squad ahead of Berrett

I have said before that Andy is not a natural fullback. He has been particularly poor in the position this season. Ternent saw that and dropped him, yet Ternent got murdered for doing so. I would like us to sign a specialist right back.

Holdsworth is too soft in the tackle to be a CM and his tackling and positional sense is not good enough for RB either. His best position is a wing back.
He actually looked to be playing with 50p pieces stuck on his boots on tuesday - I can't remember balls going so far away from their intended destination.
He is a decent squad member, but not a first teamer in a team pushing for promotion. I think the best thing for him personally would be to try his luck at another club.

Holdsworth was the dogs danglies under Jacko, used to bang in some cracking crosses. But he's gone off the boil recently, why don't we try him in midfield on Tuesday night, and put Tom Clarke at RB.
