I was faced with a difficult choice yesterday
A) Take my wife to the game - and pay £20 for her (I have a season ticket)
B) Don't bother going and take her for a meal instead
Before I get bombarded with "part-timer" ...... I've sold lottery tickets, I've worked on the turnstiles, I've been watching Town since 1979 and I've been to over 80 grounds with Town........
The choice was a simple one.....Hyde Park up Bradley for a meal and a beer!!
Convince me that I made the wrong choice if you can.
I said to my mate on Thursday, Millwall will be better than Colchester, we won't be any different, so therefore, it's a draw at best but probably a loss.
Now teams will be studying our videos and it's simple, just pressurize us at the end of the game and we WILL concede ....someone please remind me, what is Steve Blacks role at the club?
I'll probably end up going to some more games this season, but for one reason only - to have a beer with my mates.
Season ticket next season? If they are £100 - possibly (but that's not going to happen) - so I'll take the offers that have been going this season - i.e. £1 on Monday, £2 on Tuesday etc and pick and choose my games.............

Errrmmmm yeah, cos that's what I've been doing for the last 30 years - I only went to the 80-odd grounds when we were winning - I went down to Bournemouth one Tuesday night and went to work the following day, because.....eerrrmmm.... we were running away with the Premier league that year......
Read the post, I expected a reply like this, because you are only allowed to post "downatthemac" validated opinions, right??
The next time I pop down might be the next home game after we've just lost another game, so your post doesn't really make any sense does it?

actually i agree with that first post as i was in a simelar position yesterday as we had friends over from bolton, for me the play offs were over weeks ago so this season is a bit flat for me now,i ended up taking my mate but didnt get excited whatsoever as whatever the result we will finish between 8-11,next season though if clark buys right and i have every faith in him i think we will get promotion, but lads/lasses shouldnt be critisised if they choose to do other things than watch town sometimes,if tickets go up to over 200quid we will lose around 4000holders at least.ok they dont all turn up but thats a 400k loss straight away.

Glad someone else could see my point, rather than automatically accuse me of being a "glory hunter" - yes I "jumped" on the glory wagon in 79-80 when I was 11 - but I've been on ever since. I've only ever had maybe 4 or 5 season tickets, so me not getting one next season is no big deal - just funny how certain posters label you without knowing any facts (although I gave some good clues!) This season was a no brainer for getting a season ticket - I've been to 17 games - so £125/17 has been good value - but £200 plus next season to watch - Yeovil, Cheltenham, Bristol Rovers, Tranmere, Colchester, Wallsall, Southend, Crewe, Northampton, Hartlepool, Brentford, Wycombe, Bury, Gillingham OMG I'd better stop- it's going to be a sh*t league next year............

You could actually have used a voucher from your season ticket to get her in for a tenner yesterday and that would have left you with enough brass for a couple of bags of chips and a four pack after.

I could have got my Brothers season ticket (who was working) if I'd have thought and got her in for nothing (oh no - here comes Acetripper with another part timers post)- the point I was making was that I made a good choice to stop away - I actually got as far as "wibits" fish shop on L***S Road and turned right up towards Bradley - to be honest if it wasn't for all the queuing traffic - I may have ended up down at the game - so thanks for the queuing traffic!

What exactly did you want though from that post?
You come on here and post that you didn't go to the game because you thought we'd lose and would rather do something else. Fair enough I say its your choice. But it seems to me that the only reason to post that is to argue with somebody about whether you're a true fan or not. You surely weren't expecting people to praise you for not going do you?
We all know that supporting Town isn't about watching winning football every week, its the same for 95% of football league clubs. But we keep going anyway, if you don't want to go, if you don't want a season ticket then don't get one. But don't expect any sympathy on here.

Look Rob you can do what you like on match days as far as I'm concerned. I just find it odd that you've come on here gloating that you decided to miss a game that we lost in some kind of self congratulatory way...It's weird man!

What exactly did you want though from that post? Taken from my original post - "Convince me that I made the wrong choice" I was looking for someone to"convince" me to come down to the next game? I guess no-one can.I thought this wasa board for fellow fans to debate,I was maybe looking for some comments about how the game went, was we unlucky etc I made a point of stating that I am not one of the £100 one season only fans to stop the part timer posts back- and typical DATM - its the 1st comment back from AT Where you got that I wanted praise from not attending or sympathy, I will never know I also asked what Steve Blacks role at the club was? Selective reading?

What's weird is that I ask for someone to convince me that I made the wrong choice and ask what Steve Blacks role at the club is - and the first reply I get is - you'll be back when we start winning - knowing that I've watched Town for 30 years! Now that is weird! I assume that noone knows what Blackies role is?

Selective reading? Why should we have to convince you to watch Town? Either do or dont.....fans like you come and go all the time. I have missed almost complete seasons in the early 80s cos of other ''issues'' in my life. I now live in Worcestershire and only see Town about 15 games a season (most away games. I got a season ticket cos it was silly not to at thiose prices....I am also a B&W F member. I didnt go yesterday for a different reason to you.....I didnt have enough money. If I had I would have been there for sure. I stayed in last night cos I was really really pissed off with the result. My next game is Hereford and then Bristol Rovers (two away games in a week that are easy for me and I already have my Rovers ticket) Take a holiday from Town if you want. Start again next season. I personally dread the season coming cos when we ARE in the top two, it will be murder to get tickets for some away games because some people will be back following Town wno are only 100% when we are winning game after game. Im not having a go at anyone in particular here, its the same with all teams at one time or another. I follow Town blindly and get annoyed when my team are slagged off by ANYONE...We are privelledged to have a team CLUB like Town to support.....long may the Town fans be the best in the Country.

Nice post Malvern !! We are one club that looks in very safe hands....there will be many changes in the closed season. The biggest point for me yesterday was the disgrace of the shitkavikz in a town shirt !! TTID

Selective reading? How can I convince you that you made the wrong choice? You didn't go because you thought we'd lose and we lost. Not much I can say to that. I can't promise you we will win the next game either, you never can with Town, that's why I said if you don't want to go because you think we'll lose then don't. It appears you didn't read my post properly, I never said you wanted praise, I said surely you didn't expect praise. My point was it seemed you wanted to argue about how good a fan you are. Maybe deep down you're questionning it yourself after not wanting to go. As for Steve Black, it's been covered in numerous threads, if you want to know what he does google him, read his book that contains quote after quote from sports people saying that Steve Black is the best in the business. Unfortunately some people seem to expect him to be able to click his fingers and we'll never conced a last minute goal again. I'll go back to my original point. If you don't want to go don't. If you're looking for reasons to go, read some of the more positive posts on here, the majority still think we are laying the foundations for something special. In all the years you've been watching Town there must have been much worst times than this, and you've kept going. The chances are you'll keep going now. If you don't its probably more to do with losing your love of Town or love of football rather than anything the current regime is doing.

if tickets go up to over 200quid we will lose around 4000holders at least.ok they dont all turn up but thats a 400k loss straight away. Not exactly true though that is it..... 16500 season tickets @ £100 = £1,650,000 12500 season tickets @ £200 = £2,500,000 @ £250 = £3,125,000 So that's a healthy increase on this year's season ticket income (although this would be tempered by the concessions having proportionately cheaper tickets again), and potentially increased on the day sales for those who 'walk up' on the day. Plus a season ticket in the region of £250 would still mean it only costs about £10 per game, and averaged over the 2008/09 to 2009/10 seasons the season tickets will have cost £175 per season....a bargain in anyone's mind I'm sure.

More like 9000 9,000 would still make us more money than we did this season. £100 was a one off offer, it was never going to be sustainable for more than 1 season. I'd rather we had 9,000 season ticket holders and more money to spend myself, than risk the future of the club by trying to sell lots of season tickets at cheap prices.

.....fans like you come and go all the time Cut n run if you want.....but you completly missed the point of my post (I may not have put it in the right way) I classed MYSELF as one of the fickle fans....as I said, I missed a couple of hundred games in the early 80s, for reasons best not gone into. But why do you ask anyone to 'convince' you to watch Town? Do or dont....Im sure if you are not at a game you still want Town to win. If there is a 'mafia' on here then I am DEFFO not part of it, as most posters tend to ignore me or have a go at my hatred of all things l**ds. The only thing I can say to you is this........stick with Town cos we are on the up, and you dont want to be lsft behind now do you?

We wont get anywhere near 12500 at £200-250 a piece. More like 9000 I fully agree, but I was using terrierng's figures.... As paulmat says, 9000 people paying the £200/£250 price is much more realistic, and that price would still be cheap in comparison to the vast majority of clubs. Look at this season's deal as the exception, rather than the norm

As paulmat says, 9000 people paying the £200/£250 price is much more realistic, and that price would still be cheap in comparison to the vast majority of clubs. Look at this season's deal as the exception, rather than the norm BUT how many tickets sold will be be the free kids tickets or greatly reduced child tickets. Most of that group will get them again next season, so won't be much change there. I doubt they'll sell 9,000 full priced tickets, unless they can have a good run til the end of the season which might persuade a few but not all. On the subject of kids tickets they should increase the prices and then give them an incentive to use the tickets , eg. tot up the number of games and issue a voucher to be used against the following years season ticket. That way they only pay the first year and then if they use it the following year doesn't cost as much. At least that way you have an incentive to turn up and not just think it cost nothing so no need to go and leave the seat unoccupied as its not available for anyone else to buy.
