Black is trying to completely change the mindset of players, he needs to teach them to work against their instinct (which is to sit back). It's inevitably going to take time; there's no magic solution. He's one of the best at what he does, and because he hasn't managed to do a long term task in 2 to 3 months, some of us are on his back! Then Clark, who is working towards success in the long term. He hasn't brought a striker in because he hasn't found an appropriate striker, he took a gamble on Jukievich, which I think is fair to say hasn't paid off, but it's a loan, it's not as though he's wasted £500k on him or anything along those lines. If he's looking for a striker capable of being a cut above in the same way that Pilkington is (and of a good standard as I'm sure Ainsworth will be in the long term) then his targets are inevitably limited. (I'm wondering if he's done a deal with Graham for the summer as everything's gone quiet regarding him, and he was free to talk to other clubs.) But nevertheless, in the summer when transfer prices are less inflated and more players are available, we'll get the men we require. This is our best chance of getting somewhere in years, why are some numptys so impatient that they want to ruin it.

Sometimes to get a long-term solution you've got to get rid of the short-term one. As for the sitting back? We were hardly sat back when Millwall got their 2nd and Colchesters equalizer was a similar situation that led to Lucketti giving away a free-kick.

Do you think that Mitchell and Murphy's good run would have lasted until the end of the season?
Of course it wouldn't have. They just benefitted from the initial boost from the players as a result of the freedom they were allowed to play with, which contrasted with Ternent's style.

We were desperate in the last 10 minutes against Colchester. We had 11 men in our own box at times.

I'm just wondering how he managed to f*ck up the good run M&M initiated.....? Don't Look Back in Anger. Champagne Super Novack will help us next year. Lee has a Masterplan. I'd rather Be Here Now, than be Hung In A Bad Place. I Hope, I Think, I Know, that Balckie will have warned the players about the Importance of Being Idle. Some Might Say you need to Stop Crying Your Heart Out. When we get a bad result, we need to Roll With It, not Slide Away.

Do you think that Mitchell and Murphy's good run would have lasted until the end of the season? Most likely not, but it shows that the players CAN do better than this. Perhaps they just respect Murphy more....?

I'm just wondering how he managed to f*ck up the good run M&M initiated.....? Don't forget the 4-3 home defeat to Port Vale, or the 1-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient. It wasn't all good results under Murphy, Murphy never had to deal with a bad run of form, or any sort of expectation from the fans, he never had to sign anyone (remember he said a new striker would upset the squad). Lets not let the few games under Murphy and Mitchell be the yard stick by which we judge all our managers. Its a fairly easy job being a caretaker manager, no pressure, following someone who's messed up enough to be sacked. Taking over full time is a whole different ball game. Look at Tony Parkes at Blackburn, he had a few good spells as caretaker, eventually he got the job full time and was a disaster.

Maybe a bit hasty on my part, and yes I had forgotten about PV, thanks for that! Not saying he should have gotten the job full time, nor am I for sacking Clark, I just thought he would have been doing just a little bit better.

We're on to a winner with Clark (& more importantly Hoyle), the last thing we need is nob-ends starting a "Clark out" campaign just 'cos we're not gonna make the play-offs. We all started out with what turned out to be too high expectations this year. Everyone complains that managers aren't given enough time, until its their team and then they're straight out with the gallows. Time to practice what you preach - wait 'til he signs a decent striker in the summer, then ride the .
