Since a lot of people want to complain about recent result (I'm not saying whether complaining is right or wrong), I just wondered why I am not really seeing any complaints about the players?
Yes Clark picks the team. But in a sense, his hands are tied as he has only had a difficult January transfer window to work in and the only fees he paid were for Ainsworth and Pilkington (look like they have good potential).
It seems that despite Clark being almost powerless once the players cross the white line, he is still the one that is taking the blame.

I think the players are letting him down.
He tells them the right things to do during the game, but either they aren't good enough or don't listen.

There has to be some responsibility shouldered by the players on Saturday - their chance each week to make a difference. Too many players against Millwall made mistakes and let others down when it was their time to challenge. The last minute loss of concentration was a classic and something which Lee Clark could do nothing about - especially as it was a repeat of last week. Individual errors make the team lose position and shape as a whole and must be cut to a minimum. Look at the Premier league for examples of this, where a higher percentage of players in the teams are comfortable on the ball - and with their responsibilities. We need more confident holding players IMO.

Have you not seen the abundance of threads slating the Everton lad, Ainsworth being weak, Collins going missing, Holdsworth playing badly - add to that all the criticism laid out to Williams, Lucketti, Jevons and Parker over the last few weeks

And they aren't really blaming Jutkiewicz, they are just saying he is sh*t (fair comment). Same with Jevons and Parker. And also I'd say there is probably equal amounts of posts blaming Clark as ant of the players.

They do. But at the same time I have a lot of sympathy for them as it was only a matter of time before they ran out of ideas of how to win games without any strikers. It must be very frustrating and demoralising for them just as much as it is for us.
Offensively, players like Roberts, Collins and Craney want a striker to hold play up and have some neat interchange of passes with. Or one whos maybe going to get onto a through ball. Or just one that gets into the box they can feed the ball to. We've got all these great wingers like Roberts, cads, Pilks and ainsworth not to mention Williams who can whip a great ball in, but Jevons won't go in the box at all if he can help it, Lucas couldn't beat one of the cheerleaders in the air and Booth isn't mobile enough to beat a defender to a header, or keep up with play anyway if its a fast attack.
Defensively we don't have anyone to hold play up so if we are coming under presure ,it just keeps coming back straight away.
Its not just having no strikers to actually score, its also that it effects all the rest of the side aswell in their own game. We can't get the best out of them. Big shame cos they are good enough

there should be no blam on anyone. the lad is learning, the team is getting used to the way things are now, game plans arent working because opponents have done there job and got it right.
yeah ill jump at some people for lack of passion on the pitch but we all have to show faith and just get on with things.
bring on the summer

Big shame cos they are good enough Yep. Imagine you are one of the wingers. You get the ball out wide, cant play forward cos Jukievitch is stood still not making himself available, so you dribble down the wing. Then you look up, cant cross it cos nobody is in the box. So you go backwards/cut inside/run into trouble and it all breaks down, opposition have the ball again. Also theres no out ball for the defence, who cant aim for Jukievitch's head cos he'll lose it, and cant go over the top cos he'll jog after it (if we're lucky).

the players must take alot of the blame for recent results theres been alot of lack of concentration in the last month and surprise 3 injury time goals
smithies: question his position for the free kick against colchester, kicked the ball out too early against millwall and they eventually hit the bar(although in clarks post match comment against colchester said we need to get the full backs out wide quicker and the ball played quicker to them)
holdsworth: has been awful in recent months and constantly caught out of position
butler: seems to be on another planet recently and looks to be day dreaming
ainsworth: apart from against hartlepool i havent seen him play well and should have scored on saturday with an easy chance(but its hard as a winger when you take someone on and theres no one to aim for at all)
collins: what does he do in a football match besides scored the odd goal id raise the question of flynn playing there for the rest of the season as he can hit the back of the net and could do more in the games0
lukas: like playing with 10 men
on the plus side pilkington is just class what a buy and will be a future town hero, roberts is god and i dont even wanna think where we would be without him, williams was fantastic on saturday and gets better now hes some decent competition.
weve got some potentially excellent players here (smithies, pilks, ainsworth, novak) and some class players weve just gone off the boil lately and imo its the players to blame and a little from clark but like clark alot of the players are young and not very experienced but im sure with some quality next season and a pre season with our management team we could come good hopefully it could be our season
ps sorry for the long post

What Collins does, appart from score at the rate of a prolific striker ( the only player we have who does), is link play up all over the pitch. Unfortunately he hasn't got anyone up front to link it up to. It doesn't raise any questions about Flynn as Collins scores more goals than Flynn and is a far better player than Flynn. If you want Collins to charge around launching into tackles or spreading 50 yard passes about you'll be disappointed. If you want him to keep it simple, keep the ball moving quickly and play a big part in just about every attack we have then hes your man ( even if it goes unnoticed by many)

Agree with most of what you say re strikers slapps, but i dont know how you can say our players are good enough when we are sitting halfway down the table - as we did last season, and the season before!! Have just had a look at the table, and whilst our goalscoring column isnt great, 15 of the 24 sides have better goals against columns both home and away. That tells me that a striker although much needed is not the solution to all our problems!

Well we'll never know for certain but there are so many games this season that we've dominated, created chance after chance and either lost or drawn because we have no one capable of scoring a goal up front that Im convinced had we signed the 2 strikers we needed back in the summer , we would have another 10-15 points now.

During the game, being the operative phrase, I sit right behind him.
I can fathom out the gist of what he is saying from body language, and from when he turns to talk to the rest of the coaching staff.

I honestly think if he had been playing you would be in or near the play offs no problem,,,,,he would have definitely been scoring GOALS from long range alone side Collins(who i rate) from inside the box ,so going back to Flynny how the hell can you judge him when you have only seen him in a handful of games and don't forget he has played a few seasons at a higher level than this league which again is a different style of play ..

He would have scored a few long range goals, it's the best part of his game, but Collins will score more thats all. I saw him in about a dozen games. Obviously he wasn't helped by being played in a wide midfield role, which isn't his best position in a lot of them, but thats enough to get an idea of how good you think a player is isn't it? He can't get on the field because he isn't good enough to get in the team, simple as that. What went on with Flynn and his team mates when Turnip was here isn't going to help him but it doesn't alter the basic problem that hes a L2 standard player ( though darlington weren't impressed by all accounts) He may have played at a higher level in the past but so what, should we pick him on the strength of how good he USED to be? Unsworth should be straight back in the side then? 'Few seasons' is stretching it a bit aswell anyway. Maybe ONE season if you tot the games up. If we can find someone to take him, then he'll be on his way in the summer surely.
