We have a great chairman at the helm, who it seems is here for the long term & not just here on a get rich quick scheme when compared with many more in football.
We have a potentially great manager (maybe not in the Chapman sense...), who is younger than any/many we've had before. At this stage I'd rather have potential than a 1 or 2 hit wonder. Let's not kid ourselves, there have been few managers who we could single out in the last 40-odd years (Buxton, Greaves, Colin, Horton, Jackson are the ones who instantly come to mind).
Assuming that we get a decent striker or two in the summer and these lads have time to build and get to know each other, build a stable squad etc. then I'm not sure we need the whole new team some folk talk about, we're not too far off the finished article. To be where we are with the strikers goal tally is remarkable - just imagine if we had 2 strikers on the books who'd scored 15 goals apiece at this stage...
I honestly think we're in a great place right now...
Lee Clark seems to have the Old bull, Young bull mentality... Keen to re-sign some good players who would have been out of contract.
Very pleased with where this club sits tonight.
Just to finish off on a slightly bizarre note, but over the last few seasons, has anyone noticed that we seem to struggle pushing through the various points barriers, particularly as we get towards 39, 49 pts etc. we then struggle to get across into the next set of ten...
Not sure if this is psychological, or i'm a fruitcake, bit of both probably...
