They play at the International Stadium (athletics track)on the A184. There are a couple of ways to get to it off the A1 - best thing is to route planner it.
As for drinking, Gateshead as a place is a heap and is as rough as a badgers so you're certainly better off drinking over the river in Newcastle - that is a class night out.

most interesting thing to see in Gateshead (after the Angel) is the multi-storey car park from 'Get Carter' Will the young Britt Ekland be there? Good film that. A cult classic, up there with 'The Wicker Man'. Another Britt Ekland film! Now did I ever mention 'Man with the Golden Gun'?

I think I might have to book the spare room at my sisters for that w/e and drag my Geordie mate who works at Gateshead Council along for the match.
