I know we are struggling for strikers and this lad is supposed to be pretty decent but when he plays for us hopefully people won't expect too much too soon, alot could be determined by who he's plays upfront with. I hope he will be a goodsigning though.

I doubt he'll get any starts and will probably be seen for the occassional last few minutes here and there. It wouldn't surprise me if he spends a lot of the first half of the season out on loan in L2. Novaks a long term project and it'll take him a while to make the step up between semi-pro Gateshead and Town.

If Gateshead secure promotion before the end of the season i'd be tempted to get him back for the last couple of games and throw him in. No pressure on the lad and it would be interesting to see how he reacts. Plenty of players have come straight in from non-league and made an impression.

I reckon he'll get a full/majority of pre-season with us to see how far from being ready for us he is at that point and to improve his fitness.
Then he will get a loan out to at a stretch League 2 but more likely to Blue Square Premier - possible back to Gateshead if they go up, which is looking likely.
Town will be monitoring his progress whilst he is out on loan and then pre season of 2010/2011 he can be analysed to see how far away he is then.
This post could be blown out of the water depending on his progress.

If its a Standard Loan which I presume it is, there is no recall option, so we wouldn't be able to recall him even if both clubs were happy with it.

I reckon he could put on several pounds, break a leg, develop an irrational fear of the 18 yard box and still be more effective than both Phillis Jevons & Karen Parker put together!

I dont think he'll be loaned out, he's a striker who will be full of confidence. Players have made the step up before and there's no reason he shouldnt. I'm not saying I expect him to bag 30 goals but I think he'll surprise a few.

If he attacks the ball in the area he'll be one up on Parker, Jevons and Uselessvitch

Does anyone know if Gateshead are a full time club or part time? If they're part time I'd assume Novak is training with us when Gateshead aren't?

I'm not saying I expect him to bag 30 goals but I think he'll surprise a few. I saw the 2 goals he scored a couple a weeks ago: A penalty and a header where it was harder to miss. Still, I suppose you have to be there to put it in the back on the net. That is the only time I have seen him play and obviously from just seeing the 2 goals (which were nothing special), he didn't look anything special compared to the other players on the pitch except I was looking out for him.

Like you say, as long as he can get in the right place which our strikers this season have demonstrated must be an art, he'll do for me Correct, I'm just saying the highlights I saw, he didn't really do anything for the goals. I just don't want people to expect a League 1 goalscorer instantly, because I can't see him doing much for us until the season after next.

Did alan shearer do much for his goals? No! You mean Alan 'Chases Lost Causes' Shearer? Yes he did often do a lot of work and running to get goals. And that kindof proves my point - Lee Novak of Gateshead spoken of in the same paragraph as Alan Shearer? He just needs time to get up to pace and strength with the step up to a division 3 above the one he is in now.
