McDermott reckons Collins and Berrett have Premiership potential so for me there's your central midfielder pairing for the last 9 games - lets see how they develop
My team
Smithies
Holdsworth Williams Nathan Clarke Lucketti (deserves to retain his place and Butler a little off form)
Ainsworth Berrett Collins Roberts
Pilks in the hole
Legend
Subs
Goodwin Eastwood Butler / Skarz Tom Clarke Heagney (sorry but I wouldn't even bother with our other strikers and Broadbent, Denton and Novak are out on loan)

I don't see Holdsworth or Berrett fulfilling Collins' role. I would have given Berrett a run in Goodwin's role when he was suspended. I think Berrett is more suited to that position and would have provided better balance than two attacking midfield players.

Holdsworth is an attacking midfielder far more than hes a defensive one. Box to box. A defensive midfielder wouldn't be arriving in the box to head the winner against Leeds last season. Berrett isn't strong enough to play defensive role. Maybe in a year or two, but not just yet. Hes a real player though, with real talent. In a 442 both would be much better options than Flynn in the attacking midfield role. As would Craney or Worthington for that matter.

Is Collins really that bad? Every week someone mentions that he should be dropped and he disappears from games etc. The last few games I've seen him he's been good and has worked well off the ball. Either this goes unnoticed or I'm seeing things ?? In a team that struggles to score goals I don't get why people want to drop a player that has not only been scoring but creating. He even set up the goal at Tranmere didn't he? He just seems to come in for a lot of stick these days, its almost as if Williams is playing well so people have to find a new player to get at Basically he's not crunching people, that's why people thing he is missing. Now if people watched him and saw the (intelligent!) runs that he makes, the harassing he does to make people do quick passes (and make mistakes) and the amount of link up play he is involved in they would realize what a quality midfielder we have. As for Flynn, I hope he plays, then we can put the theory to bed that he is one of our best mid fielders, I'm sure ellsky must be his agent ha ha i wish i was an agent the money those guys earn ,,no seriously guys i just wanna see him play ,i think it is a waste when he dint play and he is a m8 like

If its 451, I'd go Smithies T clarke Lucketti (if clarke not fit) butler williams Goodwin, HOLDSWORTH Pilkington Collins Roberts booth Which effectively makes it 4231 - giving us a solid base with goodwin and holdsworth...goodwin to batter, holdsworth to intercept, set the tempo, retain the ball, etc i.e. do what he did ehrn he was player of the season in a better team than the one we have today. I would actually quite like that formation if we had a striker who could alo run at the defenders (a Yakubu figure maybe). Our defence isn't the greatest so that would offer extra stability with the defensive midfielders also able to join in going forward at times. It could be one to try.
