Someone in the Kirklees area has to be called Ben Smithies? Perhaps we can flog them for 4m and keep Alex - The Daily Mail don't lose face and we keep Alex and get 4m... WIN/WIN I say. ;D

yeah lets find him quick for the summer sales! haha
still 4 mill for a really unproven goal keeper yet. yeah a hell of alot of potential with him we can all see that but he has only played like 16 games so far in the first team. either way if he did go i think its good money and good luck to the lad, if not great we could just have something special here for the next 4 years too.
i do think someone will come in for him though in the shape newcastle, wigan, villa or even birmingham or shef u if they get up to the prem

Nobody in their right mind would pay £4million for Smithies. I think they would, especially if you can get a bit of a bidding war going. £4m for the best teenage keeper in the country, with a possible 20 year career stretching in front of him? When you think of some of the daft amounts Prem clubs pay for players, £4m is no big deal at all.

Do we have anyone willing to go through the courts and legally change their name to Ben Smithies? (This is plan B for if we cannot find a Kirklees based Ben Smithies )

Do you think they would take Malvin Smithies? We could offer them Ben Davy as well.

Considering what Joe Hart went for, and the fact that there are a fair few other young goalies out there rated more highly than Smithies, i'd think they were pretty mental offering £4mil. I'd snap their arm off for it though.
