Could one of the readers of this M.B. with good “inside connections” at Town tell me if any public tribute (possibly on a match-day) is planned before the end of the season to Gerry Murphy for the excellent work that he has done at the club over many years?
I am sure everyone who has followed the team over the years would welcome the chance to show their appreciation for Gerry’s work – especially the periods when he has been emergency first team manager. Some of the best football our first team have played has been under Mr. Murphy’s leadership. Possibly had he been a few years younger he would have been a more permanent resident of the managers chair. And, of course he has been instrumental in steadying the ship on three traumatic occasions, as well as producing a number of decent players from the academy.
This may have been raised in the past, or indeed I may have missed an announcement regarding this matter (I don’t touch the local rag) – if so please ignore this note and the sentiments behind it.
