Martin Allen really endeared himself to me with the way that he demonstrated an obvious desire to manage us this time last year.
Even before that however I had become enchanted with him while watching his touchline antics on each of his previous visits to the Pharm.
Keep your eyes on the technical area tomorrow for his inevitable whacky behaviour. The guy is a real one off.

I like Martin Allen, think he would have done a job here, but no time for sympathy tomorrow, we need a win massively. Wouldn't swap him for Lee Clark that's for sure.

Will be a tough one today. Cheltenham are 'in-form' - or at least they're doing better than us!! Allen will have a point to prove, will be DESPERATE to put one over on us. I was a real supporter of Allen when he went for the job, and I still think he could have done a job. Don't measure him by his success or lack of it at Cheltenham; think about what he might have done if he was here in summer with the money that Ternent had - remember, he's had no real cash at Cheltenham, and is now in the position of having to let players go for free (Owusu, etc.) We might just get turned over today.

I'm an Allen fan too.
He's great touchline entertainment. I can see him and Clark having a water fight today. Like we used to as kids with squeezy bottles.

I agree, plays old fashioned brute force football, our nancy boys will not like his style of play today.

Oh give up you lot, Cheltenham were absolutely garbage when I saw them down there . And they've even got rid of their half decent players this week. If we can't beat this lot then I will be questioning the players !

A lot of teams in relegation positions manage to get some good results against the odds at this time of year though. happens in all leagues, every season towards its conclusion. Check out the results at 5pm the next few weeks and you'll see what I'm on about.

If we can't beat this lot then I will be questioning the players ! Its league 1, anyone can beat anyone, Cheltenham beat Tranmere in mid week. We should beat them of course, but we've been in this league long enough to know that nothing can be taken for granted.

I'm also a big martin allen fan - their chairman let him bring a number of players in, got his maths wrong and he then had to let them all go and in the meantime lost his best player (higgs).
Would have loved him here, like dean hoyle - but like dean hoyle, I'm glad we have clark and co.

Allen should have got the job, but we'll never know if he'd have made an arse of it like Stan did, or would we be sitting comfortably in the top 6 now?
Hope he does well in the future, after today of course. Clark's the future for us.

While chelt have won their last 2 games, they have lost 4 of their better players this week, and also have another 4 or 5 injured. I'll be really disappointed if we don't win today.

He'll be gutted now. Lots of Allen style there today though - time-wasting a-plenty, and big rangy (bl*ck) strikers. Strangely though, no hoof-ball. Perhaps we didn't let them play that game!

I sit in the DG lower at the side by the away dugout and I was so embarassed by town fans. 90 minutes of continuous abuse at Allen for stepping out of his area. It didnt seem to matter that we were 2 down and needed support. That guy that sits near the front and is always out of his seat talking to the 4th official and linesman, used to think he was quite funny but now it's embarassing. I dont come to watch the away manager and the 4th official, i come to watch town!

Allen's style of play is very effective and he has done well to help boost Cheltenham's chances of survival. But this style is not one which I would want to watch every week and I am pleased that he was not appointed as the manager of Huddersfield Town.
