.................it's as bad as it seemed yesterday. After 40 b***dy years I have seen us as champions in 1983 and a few play off finals, and thats about it I think A new manager (yes he still needs time to bed in I guess), all theses back room staff earning what? A few quid thats for sure. But what really gets me is when are we going to see a set of players who are full of passion, thirst for success, and going that extra mile to the point they are ready to use every last fibre in their bodies to give my club what it desrves-and thats a team with real guts and ambition. The shirt should be an honour to wear, and if a certain young 19 year old don't understand that then I am afraid he should do the decent thing and leave. The same could be said about a few of our players, but not perhaps to the same degree. Cads and pilks-quality, and I was delighted to see Cads get his 1st goal of this season. The remainder were pretty shambolic. I never had huge expectations of this season, it takes time to build a team, but our demise over the last few weeks has been very disheartening. By the way booing your team is out of order, it is petty and juvenile-never done it myself, and I am guessing it must be terrible to be on the recieving end of it. So, I shall buy a season ticket AGAIN, but I put Clarke on notice that I am not (and many more of us I suspect as well) are not meal tickets, there is an end to everyones patience. So here's to next season my friends-the real test is to come.

Clark is starting the job now fella - worthy, parker, jevons have all been told they dont feature and have been allowed out on loan with a view to exiting permanently and there are more to follow apparently. The key to it is bringing in better than what we had however and only time will tell for that!!!

Even if we don't go up next season as long as we make playoffs next seaon im happy with Clark (no e) we've had enough chopping and changing let a manager finally put together their own team

I'm most impressed with you having seen us as Champions in '83! Could have sworn we were last champions in 1980 and the 1983 promotion was in third place.

Good point jimmy - bet in the modern era mr buxton would have got the boot during the poor 81-82 season. We reaped the rewards by keeping faith with the man ..........................hopefully mr clark will get similar backing to bring the next successes for the club!

Wossisname turned his man just outside the box and rifled it in. 82-83 gen Bradford we lost and still got promoted. 1st, 2nd or 3rd, it dunt matter

I'll always remember that Cowling daisycutter into the bottom corner against Newport County that sealed the '83 promotion. What stuck in my mind from that day though was a few Newport fans staying behind at the end, applauding Town. Bearing in mind that they were the team that could have caught us, it left a big impression on me as to how they must have been gutted and yet remained to congratulate us. I was only nine and obviously impressionable.
That was the beginning of the end for Newport and they soon sunk into oblivion. Had they nicked promotion that year, then who knows how their history may have differed. Ditto Colin Larkin's "nearly" goal in the Play Off Final for Mansfield. Will they get back into the league? Strange how small events in the context of a whole season could be the triggers for much greater events.

My recollections of dates may not be encyclopaedic, however the sentiment remains the same. I hope if we all have the patience to let CLARK have a decent go and build a team then maybe, just maybe we will see results. Too much chopping and changing over the last few years to even begin laying the foundations let alone the walls and roof ( if you will pardon the analogy). I still feel next season is the probably the most important one for many years
