Just reading some of the armchair managers posts and wanted to ask how many people on here have actually played football (or still do possibly).
I'm not disputing that footballers put in bad performances, we all have off days at work, but if you've played football you can hopefully appreciate that not every pass comes off as you'd like it to & when it doesn't come off it either goes to the opposition or looks like a pile of cack. The pass going astray could be down to a simple mistake/mis-judgement or could also be that what was being attempted was too ambitious.
The point is that booing mistakes isn't particularly constructive is it? If there was a genuine attempt at something that didn't come off for a variety of reasons either keep your gob shut or maybe applaud it as being unlucky?
If folk booed at every mistake people make in life, we'd be even more shallow and hypocritical a society than we already are.
The only exception to this (at least IMO) would probably be where the said person/footballer does it time after time...
Anyway, on a positive note, I can't fault the passion shown on this site even when the season is dead & gone. Proves that we're all for HTFC regardless of how we show it...

Got to admit, I'm not a footballer. Won't boo, except the officials. Was scathing at Lukas yesterday tho, and vocally questioning his commitment. Never Boo tho. It's Pointless.

Most decent fans know there is a difference between booing players for mistakes and booing them for a lack of effort. I havent nor will ever boo players for mistakes - they happen at the very top level in any industry so there has to be an acceptance of that fact. I do however have some sympathy with those who booed lukas yesterday - Firstly the lad showed no tangible effort which is in itself unforgiveable, but to compound it by throwing your top at the manager ande you get what you deserve. If it had been me in charge, i would have delivered my h-t speech and right at the end pointed him out in front of the lot and said "performance and actions wholly unacceptable, get showered, changed and go home, you arent wanted here."

I just can't boo Town, the players as individuals or the team as a whole. It doesn't feel right.
I'll complain and moan, but I won't boo, and I disagree with those who do.

I haven't played a competitive game since 1970 - was never over endowed with skill when I did play - but I would hope to put a lot EFFORT into being a "professional" player than Lukas has managed in half a dozen games for Town. I read somewhere that Everton paid Plymouth a seven figure sum for him - can that be right??? NEVER EVER boo or abuse Town players - it can only help the opposition and I'm extremely doubtful that it will make our guys perform better. UTT

i have played 11 a side football since the age of 13, so nearly 27 seasons.
this has been Cub/Scout games, Sunday school league, various pub teams and organisations to a decent level
The knees/back/ankle have had it now - (I make boothy look like the springiest of Chickens !!!)
I have always put effort in (used to play like Bryan robson, so have only played 2/3rd the games I should have over the years because I've missed that many with injuries.)
That's the way I played, and was always, always true to myself and my teammates - At times I have been poor - but not through lack of effort - it was jsut one of those days - recovering from a cold/ carrying an injury when ui shouldn't be playing and I was made to look crap (more crap than I was !!) and no matter how hard i tried, and trying harder only makes it worse sometimes, you cannot be perfect all the time - and it's no different for professionals, no matter what you think.
you try things to give you that extra yard, the ball bounces off strange - the opposition harry you (god forbid) - the opposition are better than you (no ! never !!) ] I've been booed by my own supporters !!! - I could have jacked it all in there and then - it doesn't make you do the right thing - so I never ever boo - I get frustrated, I scream and shout and swear, but booing helps nobody

im a footballer and im fat and slow! but i always put 100% in and thats why i get picked. but end of the day we are a league 1 side, not a premiership side, so we will make mistakes and there will be off days, its the same for the fans. all in all its been dissapointing this year for all the hype but we have to be realistic and just start enjoying football again!

There is no doubt that towards the end of the season, when the pitches get a bit lively and firm, players do get a bit stale, especially when there is little to play for.
And if they have a signed contract in their back pockets it`s human nature to relax a bit.
Cometh the manager to sort them out.

Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football held for a few years, although not coaching this season!
I played at County/City level as a school boy and was looking at playing for another local pro club until asthma developed quite badly when I hit 16!
I envy Paul Scholes as they sorted his out as it nearly stopped his career before it started! He's 8 years younger than me!
