Up in Aberdeen for a few days visiting a mate. DATM is depressing reading ATM, but Town fans can count ourselves lucky! Yesterday I saw Partick -v- Dundee and the best player on the pitch was Gary Harkins - remember him on loan a few years back? And Thistle's main "striker" is Lukas Akins! He's the most unnatural header of a ball I've ever seen! Subbed after an hour and on the road to nowhere.
By contrast, on Saturday I saw a young striker with real potential - Leigh Griffiths of Livingston. Scored 2 at QoS, making it 20 goals in 24 appearances. Blinding pace and only 17 years old.

Epsom, get on to the club and let them know. They may be more receptive than Jacko was

If they watch him and they don't think he is good enough, at least that avenue has been explored.

Is he as good as that other striker you told the club about a couple of years ago who you spotted playing for a Southern non-league team....Aaron McLean

Naturally quick, good vision and a touch of arrogance about him. And only 17. Some club will snap him up. Livi are in financial trouble so would be receptive to a deal. Remember Snodgrass at Dirty Leeds? Looked OK to me - he came from Livi last season. Can you please tell Town to at least have a look at Griffiths, Mids? Last year I mentioned John Akinde as one to watch when at Ebbsfleet. He went to Bristol City but he's on loan at Wycombe and scored twice on his debut. I still reckon he,d be a good replacement for Boothy.

will just someone please email the club about him?!? address it to lee clark C/O Ann Hough. ive done that in past and got replies.
Is it true you saw mclean and emailed club? did they respond?
Did you email them about that akinde?
Its daft to say that lee clark has come out and said our scouting is shit and nonexistant, when we have hundreds of fans every week who will see other teams, the club should just employ one or two scouts who just go looking on our recommendations.

I remember this and thought I don't remember us having a teenage striker that sh*ts teams up. Stead was 20 and only a good striker for us for a few months so he doesn't count. Get an email to Ann Hough chugging Can't hurt for him to at least be on Clark's radar.

No need for any more emails.....it's been done, and passed onto the relevant people.
That's not to say we'll sign him (or look at him) but at least they've been told.

BLUE&WHITE.............you're a bit impatient aren't you? In the past I've posted several times about Aaron McLean. Obviously you didn't notice, so I'll repeat for you - I advised Peter Jackson in a Southern Patrons meeting about 4 years ago to scout McLean when he was playing at Aldershot. I could see the potential and Town could probqbly have got him for £20k. I've no idea if Town took my advice or not. As for Akinde, I emailed Ritchie at the time and also told Murphy at a Patrons meeting. All this is true - Bob Pepper and Mids can vouch for this.
What more can I do? Maybe Town had a look and chose not to follow up any interest. I still maintain Akinde is an interesting talent. And Griffiths caught my eye on Saturday. Why would Mids not tell the truth about the club being made aware of Griffiths, BLUE&WHITE? Mids knows me well enough and Mids obviously has the contacts/respect within Town, so I expect Mids told them! I have no problem with that!

I think you miss understand I aren't accusing anyone of making anything up, if you look at my member infoive only been here on datm 2 months so I merely wanted to be brought upto date on past goings on. The fact I asked if you really had seen McLean before was because I continue to be impressed by how many times us fans see emerging talent before a club does, yet there seems to be no follow up to our 'finds' hence why I wrote higher up this thread about maybe the need for someone to actually take us seriously. The reason I seem impatient is because I aren't fully upto date with what's happened in the past I wish to know sooner so that I don't get further left behind in topics or to ensure I don't get halfstories and can then form my own thought processes on the subjects. Thanks for replying though

Out of interest, who is the best person to speak to at Town about scouting? I live in Rio and as I am unable to watch Town these days I go watch Fluminense who are currently second in the Brazilian premier league. I was recently speaking to the youth team coach for Vasco Da gama who are currently top and we started talking about youth exchange schemes and I passed this onto Town but recieved no response. I travel extensively throughout the Americas, Africa and middle east and try watch as many games as possible when I travel and see many young players, some of whom I am sure given the opportunity could probably do a decent job at town. I offered my services free of charge but as I say no reply so possibly the information fell on deaf ears as they say.

We have been watching Griffiths this season, Snodgrass has mentioned him in the club magazine.
I wouldn't be surprised if we make a move in the summer.
I had my doubts about Snoddy, but he has been excellent and looks likely to be player of the season, unless Beckford scores too many more.

Mids knows everyone! Sign him and epsonterrier as scouts, Cheers Walshy mate I was told yesterday, that Griffiths was already being watched but the club were thankful for my email saying epsomterrier had spotted him. The fact about McLean gave the information more clout too. It's possible that the club might look at a way of people suggesting possible (realistic) targets.....although that may lead to lots of people sending in the first person they see who might only get in Ossett Town's 2nd XI which wouldn't be ideal.

It's a nice idea of allowing the fans to feel more involved. I just hope if it were to come about, it wasn't abused and players in the mould of Tyrone Thompson aren't suggested.

It's a difficult one, as fans will have different perceptions of who "could" make a good player etc. I know a couple of years ago, Town were tracking Michael Knightly (went to wolves), who is now valued at £1m+ Just because we don't get these players doesn't mean it isn't for the lack of trying - If Wolves offered 3x the wages we were prepared to offer (reasonable) then a player is likely to jump at that - though the opposite argument is that a player may stand a better chance of being a professional at a "lower" league club. Players develop at different rates, so at the time Mclean might not have been what we were after - clubs can't sign every single player going (unless your're Neil Warnock ) I would suggest that any player who is "decent" is being touted by his own agent ( ) or his parents or his own club. There will be the odd gem out there (Stuart Pearce and Ian Wright started in the non-league circuit at Wealdstone?), but as LC quoted when he arrived - you aim for the players who could play at the next level up We already have Novak as a "potential", you can't fill your squad with 3 or 4 "might be's" Some escape through the net - look at David Platt being release by Man U, Damien duff was apparently turned down by Gerry Murphy (maybe urban myth) By the eay, i'm not having a go at anybody, because I would absolutely love it if a town fans recommendation actually made it to being signed - it's second to actually being asked to pull on the famous blue and white IMO - for which I still dream about despite being 39 and making Boothy look like Usain Bolt. UTT (ps - I love the new kits ;D)
