Surely you're not advocating that we should have signed Constantine? One good season in his career (and even during that purple patch, he divided his own fans)
He only scored on Saturday because Tom Clarke gave him the sort of present even our strikers would probably have put away.
Constantine makes Jutkiewicz look like a workhorse.

His signings have been poor thus far - not sure why or how anyone can argue with that point I'll argue with that point, as I have earlier in the thread. Pilkington - Very good Ainsworth - Too early to judge Jutkievitz - Poor Werling and Tehoue we've not seen, Werling because Williams has kept him out, Tehoue because of matters out of Lee Clark's control. So from that I don't see how you can say his signings have been poor? One of his signings has been poor (but that was a last minute loan deal), one of them looks very good. And I think Ainsworth will eventually fall into the 'good' catergory.

Not saying we should have signed him
But he has done more in one game than our three signings combined - just an illustration (like i said) that there were players out there we could have got
So if a signing is made, that cannot then get into the 16, despite the team struggling, he cannot be called a poor signing?!
Strange one that.
Anyway, it doesnt really matter does it?
LC will be judged on what happens in the summer and next season - just hope that his next signings prove more successful than those mentioned....

So if a signing is made, that cannot then get into the 16, despite the team struggling, he cannot be called a poor signing?! I presume you're referring to Werling. Normally you'd have a point, but its a pretty unusual situation in that Williams performances have improved so much since we signed Werling. Based on the perfomances of Unsworth, Skarz and Williams during the first half of the season do you think its fair to say that left back was a problem position? Has Williams done more than enough to keep his place since Werling signed? I would answer yes to both those questions as I'm sure most people on here would. I don't think you can blame Lee Clark for signing a left back, I also don't think you can blame Clark or Werling for Williams keeping his place since Werling signed. Therefore I wouldn't put him down as a poor signing. A signing we didn't need with hindsight definitely. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

The majority vote is that Williams is playing well - so if the team is struggling, why change one of the players who is playing well to try out a relatively untried player? Ainsworth comes in for some stick on here - no praise for his quick thinking for the short corner to Cads who crossed for Butler which went in. He also produced a brilliant cross for Cads in the final moments - Cads headed it straight to the keeper. But it is apparently easier to ignore the good things and criticise cos he didn't go in for a couple of tackles. Pilkington looks a lot better than League 1 to me. I haven't seen any defender get close to keeping him quiet. The other 3 are 1 loan and 2 free transfers with short term contracts. Sensible dealing in my opinion.

haha oh well
not sure there is a distinction between "a poor signing" and "a signing we didnt need"?
i dont think the left back problem was worse than the strikers problem, or the rightback problem, or the central defensive problem.
our squad is full of problems!
signing a 4th left back, not putting him in the 16, signing Lukas who is terrible and Tehoue who is god knows where - and you are saying these are not poor signings?
if you see my other post, williams and ainsworth are two players in the entire squad who i would actually keep in the starting 11 next season (along with NC, Smithies and Pilkington) so no arguments from me on that front

not like giving someone time is there! we have yet to see if they have been good signings yet.
yes pilkington look to be a great signing and i think there is alot more to come from this lad, lots of pencil!
as for ainsworth, yes hes small and hasnt made a tackle in a town shirt yet, but the crosses that lad can put in is awsome and the pace he has can break any defence. its down to the managment team to make him that player that will do it all and i have high hopes for him.
Tehoue doesnt look like anyone will know, plus no money has been spent so not really classed as ours to comment on is he. werling, not affraid of a challenge, doesnt look like a fantastic footballer but has a so called leathal shot like roberto carlos. im not a fan but i cant call him a bad signing, not enough time to say that yet.
then lukas, the lad must have something for everton to pick him up. the lad does need to play football and have a chance to prove what he is made of. but so far the lack of passion on his behalf has let him down big. but still cannot say he is a bad signing as he hasnt been involved enough to judge. give the lad a chance we might find a little bit more about him.
all in all clark is doing what is right for the club and making foundations for the journey he wants to take this club on. all things are in place. now he needs to find the playing staff that want to do the job for him!
bright future boys lets get off their backs
