Interesting the Queensgate, Manchester Road (Waterfront) and St Georges Warehose schemes are taking a 'backward step' but this is only delayed a year. Leisure as the cornerstone vs Retail as the cornerstone is the difference? Whilst the news over the last 6 months has since a succession of stores vanish from the high street, there has been very little that I recall seeing of reducing employment in the leisure sector? Wall-E was right.

The sad fact is that when the Galpharm was planned the vision for what the overall development could achieve was never fully realised. Bolton leatrned from the mistakes within Kirkless and created a facility that benefitted the local area and the football club.
The two big problems with this proposed development are:
1 - Road access in and aroud the area: This is limited and does not have the benefits that say Xscape, Middlebrook and Trafford Centre do i.e. immediate access to a motorway.
2 - As at 1 all of the above have been developed and are established. In addition there are many other facilities (as listed in this overall thread) that are within driving distance and offer differing services. Any new development in Hudds will need to offer something as a unique selling point. If you want to Ski are you going to go in doors on proper snow or on artificial surfaces in the rain?
At the end of the day a few restaurants and leisure facilities will have to offer something very special to attract custom. It is a great pity that those involved 16 years ago didn't have a wider more expansive vision then.
Shares issue aside for a moment I am all for entreprenurial ventures but I don't see this offering anything new.
