If they stay up this season, they'll be docked 10 points and relegated.
If they go down this season, they'll be docked 10 points NEXT season.

I see I misinterpreted it. So ideally we want them the finish in the bottom 3 and face a points deduction next season, not that I think they will be up there next season with their debt.

so basically theyre as gonna be relegated either way-their fans will be hoping they finish outside the bottom 3 to make sure they start on 0 points next season-that means theres going to be about 4 teams fighting to save themselves as there'll only be 1 relegation place going now

Poor Saints. Got a mate who supports them, he says they won't "survive the drop" (technically) so the points will be deducted next season. He says their main aim now is just keeping a team together for next season, the club is really messed up.
We watched the Sky Sports News updates for the final day of the Championship last year, and I knew exactly what he was going through when he could barely watch every new update coming in from around the grounds! Ah to be in a relegation battle again...

They should have taken Lucketti off of us in January - That would have saved them just like if Keigan had of gone to Charlton.

Awh poor Southampton, i've always had a soft spot for them. This could be the beginning of a very slippery slope for them, they've got some really good young players, McGoldrick, Lallana etc... Can't see them sticking around

Good news, makes our chances even better next season. They are going to lose most of their first team over the summer and will be playing a bunch of academy lads next season (granted its a quality academy) and they may struggle to stay up again

they will be lose quite a few of their players. although you only have to look at what leicester have done - get a decent striker who can bag 20+ and you stand a good chance. a
also got a soft spot for southampton (le tiss being from guernsey etc) hope they are not on a slippery slope. should be a good away trip to the south coast.

When the whole prospect of Admin for Soton came up a month or two back there was a suggestion they might not recover financially and fold completely. I know we've heard this all before and somehow someone always seems to step in but with the current financial climate it's not impossible that there might not even be a club for us to play against next season

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. It couldn't happen to a much worse club. Think they can squander vast sums of money thinking they are a big club. They won't be able to attack our official coach anymore if we can stay up. Be hillarious if we end the season in the relegation zone and still stay up. Lots riding on them visiting the scabs last match nar

I remember when they were a Div 3 team, I also remember when they missed promotion to Div 1 by about 1/200 of a goal way back in the goal average days in 1949/50.

Isn't the deadline for a points deduction THIS season past? Where as if they went into Administration the points total would carry through the next season? So if they were to stay up they would be on ten points less than the rest next season This is what Leeds got away with iirc.

southampton have got a young french lad called morgan schneiderlin. not sure how he has been playing for them this year, but he was very highly rated at strasbourg whilst coming through their youth team.
arsenal and chelsea were in for him at one point.
