The club are looking to get Duncan's Boothy tribute on the big screen tomorrow, as they really like it....but they want to speak to him about it first.
If Duncan's online, or anyone that knows him can give him a nudge, please ring Alisdair Straughan on 01484 484173 asap

It would have been nice with footy action instead of just pictures. Still, not bad at such short notice.

I'll be in bits! Boothy adn James Morrison all in one go. Bloody Hell - might have to have another Newkie Brown at the club before I set off to the game to calm myself.

I suggested this in another thread, that someone edit out a few choice Boothy moments from the umpteen official town DVD's put out over the years and run them on the big screen pre or post match or both, maybe edit in some of Duncan's photos as well (Examiner must have hundreds of them anyway!)

That comment wasn't directed at the video, the video is very well done and I commend you for making it, just don't like the accompanying track.

tough shit mate its part of the video. Personally I'm not a big fan of James Morrison, but the song fits the video perfectly and sends out the perfect message to our hero. Nice job on the video by the way Dunc.

When will this be played, before the game, or sometime around the lap of honour?

tough shit mate its part of the video. Personally I'm not a big fan of James Morrison, but the song fits the video perfectly and sends out the perfect message to our hero. ?? These are the lyrics I don't believe you And I never will, Oh I can't live by your side with the lies you've tried to instil, I can't take anymore, I don't have to give you a reason For leaving this time Cos this is my last goodbye
It's like I hardly know you but maybe I never did. It's like every emotion you showed me you kept well hid, and every true word that you ever spoke was really decieving. Now I'm leaving this time cos this is my last goodbye
I've gotta turn and walk away, I don't have anything left to say I haven't already said before and I've grown tired of being used, and I'm sick and tired of being accused. Now I'm walking away from you, and I'm not coming back Other than the line "This is my last goodbye" could you explain why this is the message you want to Giveto or receive from Boothy. Perhaps you could explain why he's (or us have) "grown tired of being used" & "sick and tired of being accused" The video is good, the music haunting (but to be honest not my cup of tea at all (TBH IMHO the musical equivelant of Stan Ternent's management)) but to claim the song fits the video perfectly and sends the perfect message to our hero" is in IMHO complete and utter b******s. PS I'll stress Duncan I really like the video can understand the choice of music (would've preferred an instrumental) but the "perfect message" is b******s.

I'm not being harsh but it could do with some video clips in it otherwise it does get a bit boring

If you have a better suggestion, then feel free to offer it.
Admittedly, perhaps not the best song to choose from a lyrical perspective. However the melody and the general feel of the song fitted the message. I mean I'm sure I'm not the only person who got an emotional response from the video.
Why? Because of the right balance between the pictures shown and the music accompanying them. Therefore the song was somewhat appropriate albeit not from a lyrical point of view, barring the 'the last goodbye' lyric.
Perhaps I went overboard with the 'perfect message' quote, but nonetheless I'll still with my original assessment for the best part.
As for songwriting, lyrics are just one part of the battle and are more often than not, NOT the most essential part of a song.
Oh and just for the record, I too can spit my dummy out as well!

Lordy Did you read my post? You must have missed the bit "I really like the video can understand the choice of music (would've preferred an instrumental)" Of course it will invoke an emotional response, tomorrow will be an emotional day (comparable only in my time to the last day at Leeds Road). TBH if you'd put out that video with Grandad by Clive Dunn it would provoke an emotional response. Your comment "lyrics are just one part of the battle and are more often than not, NOT the most essential part of a song". is correct in the main, unless you're talking about sending a message to someone, then they become much more important. Don't understand the "I too can spit my dummy out as well!" comment, unless anyone pointing out why you've talked rubbish has to be seen as spitting their dummy out. You seem to accept that now but it appears "Perhaps I went overboard with the 'perfect message' quote" is as close as you're going to come to admitting that as I pointed out "to claim the song .......sends the perfect message to our hero" is ....complete and utter b******s.

Fair play to the guy that put the video together, and why not use it if it's all we have got. Think it’s a shame however that with all the effort that has gone into improving the media presentation and advertising from the club they couldn't have put together a better piece.
I would have liked to see video clips and a more appropriate song. But thanks for giving us the tribute, and to be fair to him I'm sure if they thought it was to be used on the big screen in front of everyone, he might have looked into using video clips etc.

Duncan
As it could be interpreted as I'm belittling your work (& some seem to be taking it that way) Can I please stress again, I think you've done a really good job.
The only thing I'm questioning is someone claiming it "Sends the perfect message to our hero".
I know that comment isn't yours and I trust that you weren't really intending to send a message to Boothy nor that you would make such a comment.
I'm sure there will be many a moist eye at the Mac when it's played.
