A Right Back, Kelly playing in Central defence. An imposing midfielder alongside Collins. 2 strikers in addition to Novak.
Should cost Deano about £2M. Jobs a good un.

Peter Clarke from Southend - CB - he's on a free If we can't get Kelly back, then put in a bid for Ryan Shotton from Stoke Anthony Kay - DM/CB - He's on a free 3 strikers

i highly doubt we will sign 3 strikers Why? Seeing as we haven't got any. A team that is going to challenge for promotion has to have more than 2 strikers. If Novak can step up, then 2 might do, otherwise it will need to be 3.

So you are saying you would be happy to go in to next season with 2 new strikers and novak. I'd say 3 strikers is a bit limited to be honest. Yes cads can play there but then we are getting back in to the problems of this season. I'd like to see us splash money on two quality strikers, get one in on a free and have Novak as 4th choice

I'd like to play it safe and get 3 goal machines signed, in addition to Novak. If we'd of had a greater quantity of strikers in the second half of the season we just might be making preparations for the play offs.

Its highly likely that denton and broadbent will be released for starters. Then with parker hopefully some cash strapped club from league one will come in for him same with jeavons but prolly in league 2 with a tem like bury for example.

It depends on how big a loss we are prepared to take on him - if Clark actually wants to get rid (which he probably does). Parker and Jevons will probably have takers, especially as any fee for Parker would be a profit (except wages). Broadbent is out of contract(?) If this is the case, a lack of contract offer suggests he is just about gone anyway.

i highly doubt we will sign 3 strikers We don't even need 3 strikers. hmm, not sure, though suppose if we keep cads could see your point. we would then have novak and cads (who would also be available for wide poisition start/cover) behind the two NEW strikers, which might then be sufficient. personally, after yet again seeing two points dropped due to defensive weakness, am finally reaching the fed up stage, and really think at least one CB (and by this i mean a significant improvement over the okay clarke and butler). we need someone in the mold of a lucketti or page (5 years ago) to come in and lead/command the defense. and likewise, we need a midfielder who will provide the same leadership/control in the middle. then with a couple of decent goal scoring strikers, we should be in a strong enough position to challenge for automatic. we shall have to wait and see what lee can come up with in the summer shopping process. just hope that there is sufficient fan support in the form of season ticket sales to keep dean's budget on course. let's not forget we have a part o play.

Think thats a min reqmt billy - and that assumes holdsworth and cads sign on for squad strength! Also assumes no-one makes an offer we cant refuse for smithies. Hopefully those who clark wants shut of and are under contract will depart quickly to give us extra room in the budget!

I reckon we need:
Kelly (at right back) 2 Centrebacks (therefore 2 from Nathan +2, Butler 4th choice) 2 Central midfielders (therefore 2 from Collins + 2 new signings in a 4-4-2 and out go Flynn, Craney and Goodwin) 3 strikers (out go Parker, Jevons, Broadbent, Denton)
Potentially a left back - if we could get someone in on loan at the same quality as Kelly (send Skarz on loan again)
So, assuming we can offload all those squad players still on a contract, we need 9 or 10 quality signings if we are to challenge for promotion next season....
Lets hope the new guys turn out like Pilkington/Kelly and not Ainsworth/Werling/Tehoue/Lukas........

We wont get promoted with Nathan and Butler at Centreback, not a chance. They are steady enough but we need more leadership, fight, organisation and pace than those two can offer.
And what would we do if one or both got injured? Move TC and Kelly (if he signs) there? Not sure how much confidence i would have going away from home with that defence (and Williams and AH at fullback)
We definitely need at least one new centreback in the Summer....
