We could do with a hard grafting, tough, midfielder to take Goodwins place in the side and sure up a weak area of the side. Theres a lad Huddersfield are releasing called Worthington who'd fit the bill nicely! Spot on

Theres a lad Huddersfield are releasing called Worthington who'd fit the bill nicely! I think competition for Goodwin would be good, but the yellow card machine Worthy is not the answer. Goodwin tackles well, gets booked less, and can pass a ball in a straight line. Worthy has been a good servant, but time to move on if we want to progress in that area.

I stand corrected on the yellow cards, but Worthy has managed quite a few also considering he's hardly played this season. I just think Goodwin is technically better than Worthy.

Jim Goodwin is a class player, he should be captain next season. Some of the passes he played upto about a month ago were awesome (evidently when our season finished), we couldn't ask for a better player to play in that position in this division.
Alot of people on here judge players based on current form. If anyone would have questioned Roberts' ability in the first few months of the season, like i saw on here about a month ago, they would have got completeley decked. Same applies with Cadamarteri, because he put effort into a 5 or 6 games recently, people now rate him as a very good player.

jesus your like a dog with a bone ;D Yes, but it's a bone worth chewing - I'm still scratching my head over that decision. Will someone bring it up with Clark at a future meeting. love to know the thought process. quite simply worthy was out of contract anyone else wasnt,i think if one of goodwin/flynn/craney was out of contract it would of been those going not worthy,we are top heavy with central midfielders someone had to go,as worthy doesnt need paying off he goes,to be fair you can have the debate all night but there is nothing much between worthy/goodwin apart from the contract situation.

You're probably right but IMO neither are good enough if we want to go up and LC and Terry Mac as central midfielders themselves will surely know this is another area that needs improving

I don't want to get into a 'Worthington' thread unless shawsie's playing out. I am playing out capn - think you might be surprised with our central midfield next season, cos if things go to plan we wont have to make do with average league 1 lads like worthy, goodwin etc!!! By the way, has your lad got fixed up yet? The rumours i am hearing indicate a choice of last weekends opponents, lincoln, cheltenham or morecambe so far, although undoubtedly with your backing he will line up alongside messi, xavi and iniesta at barca!!!!

With respect ng, it has nothing to do with contracts - clark wasnt impressed with worthy in training and thinks we need a better player in there end of story - granted goodwin isnt everyones cup of tea, but clark prefers him to worthy, flynn and craney in there ..............................at the moment!

Are you sure?? PS I agree with your bewilderment about each of his three points.

Well hopefully we can get shot of Goodwin, Flynn and Craney. Maybe put Berrett out on loan, leave TC on the bench and sign 2 or 3 real quality CMs to compete with Collins for a place in the starting 11.
That would be benefecial to our chances of promotion - just whether DH will fund the required c10 signings in the Summer

I haven't heard anything. Hes just got so secretive lately- just stays in his room listening to gloomy music! You're wrong though. Its got everything to do with who is out of contract. If Worthy had a year left and Goodwin was out of contract, Goodwin wouldn't have been used and would be leaving. Same with Flynn. I doubt Goodwin will be used much next season. Clark doesn't seem to rate him as much as butchhenchville!! ( I doubt Goodwin's mum would have as deluded opinioon of his abilities as Butchhenchville!! ;D ;D) With respect shawsie, you haven't got a clue whether hes been unimpressed with JW in training. Isn't it easy to make things up just to give strength to your arguement. Ive heard Blackwell is taking him for Sheffield United he was so impressed after seeing Worthy dominate the whole midfield in the cup game against them. ( made that up, but it helps my argument )

oh dear oh dear oh dear......
i have alot of time for worthy, he has been great for us but as a league one player thats all he has left. we need to look forward to a a better footballing team and i think its best for worthy himself to move on.
all your opinions above are all valid but at the end of the day they dont matter as Lee clark and his boys will get it right this summer and i think they have already shown they are.
so good argument and get over it

Goodwin is the best midfielder we have Id agree with that. Well after Collins, Holdsworth,Berrett, Worthington and possibly Tom Clarke and Flynn i would. I hope the Anthony Kay rumours are true.

My belief on KP is this:
Brum get promoted and Phillips leaves, for a fee (hopefully to us) as a player/coach. He left West Brom as he didn't wanna play Prem footy as (I believe) he thought he was no longer up to it. Brum don't - he stays as McLeish rates him, may then come to town for 10/11 seasons as a coach, with us retaining his player reg.
Re: Interest from Perth Glory, a club statement reads: “Birmingham City FC can confirm that they have received no approach from any Club’s regarding Kevin Phillips, and that they would not welcome any. ''

Tranmere fans speak more highly of Jennings than Kay. Apparently it is his work that allows Kay to shine. If it wasn't for Jennings, Kay would have a far harder job in there
