Might seem pointless given we have no effect on who we sign but thought we could put together a list of players available on free transfer this summer. Realistic targets only but also ones who will improve the squad. Copy the names from the above post to carry on the list. I'll start off with:
Peter Clarke - CB - Southend Anthony Kay - CM/CB - Tranmere

Oh aye Philips, dya think that he'd come along to the Galph? There were rumours circulating in January about a player coach roll, i reckon that would be ace

Phillips has another year left at Birmingham, sounds like he could well leave them, and there may not be a fee involved, but as it stands he's not available on a free.

From that list the realistic targets that would improve us are:
Vaz Te Stoch Lee Martin Mathew Bates David Edgar Sidibe Paul Robinson
I don't know if I'm being realistic there or not, but those would certainly make very good signings

Does Paulo Wanchope have a team yet? Does Paula Wanchope play football? ;D Saw him playing for Malaga a few seasons ago, Not bad start first few games, then he got Mexican Swine Flu before it was even invented!!! Basically went off the boil and then i think he went to some Arab or Japanese team for a while. He may have been good once but i think he would be a backward step for us.

We could do with a hard grafting, tough, midfielder to take Goodwins place in the side and sure up a weak area of the side. Theres a lad Huddersfield are releasing called Worthington who'd fit the bill nicely!

From that list there are a few interesting full back options including Robinson, Danny Mills & Nicky Hunt, but all three might end up in Championship (can't believe Hunt is still only 25).
Edgar might be a realistic possibility & if we could persuade Chris Baird to drop to Div 3, at 27 he would be a great buy.
However, the one that sticks out for me, to be our new captain & midfield general, is Ian Ashbee from Hull - what a player/leader he could be for us at 32.
