If we're doing ok (which we will be) they'll definately want to open it up to fit us all in. 1800 in the seats and another 1500 behind the goal won't be enough.

Not a good one for boxing day, thought we were supposed to get nearest clubs possible due to travel issues?

no, never a case of 'nearest club possible', they just try to make them not too far away if they can avoid it

Will Lee Clark be travelling with us to Carlisle on Boxing day or staying at home for his Christmas dinner?

Did you read the article on the bbc website?
The chap in charge may well have tried to get us Stockport, Oldham, Tranmere, Walsall or even Leeds on boxing day. However, due a wide range of circumstances perhaps none of these were possible and carlisle are the closest club that we could play that would fit in with both clubs fixture list and with his overall system

I read the article, but I've decided that someone somewhere is having a laugh! Game before Chrstmas = Norwich (A) Boxing Day = Carlisle (A) Game after Christmas = MK Dongs (H) Like they're gonna bring thousands! New Year's game = Bristol Rovers (H) Like they're gonna bring thousands too! How are we supposed to make any money??? I just don't understand why we cannot play the likes of L***s, Oldham or Stockport at the festive seasons to drum up some big crowds and generate a bit of atmos and cash!!!

Leeds, Oldham etc would give us big crowds anyway. MK Dons and Bristol Rovers wouldn't bring many fans at any time of the season. And remember we're in a mainly southern division. Other than us, there's only something like 8 clubs north of the midlands, of which there's probably only 5 within 100 miles of us, so we don't exactly have a massive amount of options do we?

What i dont understand is why you cant have local derbies on the first or last game of the season. What difference does it make. There isnt going to be any more trouble just because its the first game, the same amount of fans can turn up etc. Shit that we always play Leeds around November/December and then February ish every bloody year

Probably because the first and last games of the season get big crowds anyway, and so theres no real need for a local derby to help increase it. Whether we play Leeds (for example) in September, the last day of the season, Christmas, it'd still be a big crowd, so may as well get a big crowd anyway on the last day against a non local team (and if you're doing really well it'll be high anyway) and then get another big crowd on a different date when you play a local team

Only 2 hours to Carlisle, not that bad! I was back in the pub before 7 last year! And Sheff Wed V Barnsley's on opening day so South Yorkshire Police aren't too bothered about that one. No way would West Yorkshire's finest have allowed us to play Leeds though
