That will be the best away day of your life if we go up that day or have already gone up or secure a play off spot etc

leyton orient 06/07 exeter is annoying for the final game, but i'm guessing there'll be a big screen back at the galpharm if the game is important

Nope, they don't have a team of monkey's working on the fixture list, alot of factors are taken into consideration, and then everything is put into a computer, and it comes up with the fixture list

Yup, I think they said that 1 fixture change can potentially impact on upto 48 other games on that date.

I must admit that I tend to look at the last game of the season immediately after looking at the first one. I really thought that we would be due a home game in the final fixture this season. This has really annoyed me One final day home game in the past 6-7 years is ridiculous. Why can't the opening/closing games be alternated ? I notice Leeds have yet another home fixture in the final game of the season.

As Lindley said, between 95-99 we had a run of 5 consecutive final day home games, and we didnt win any of them. In fact we've only won 1 final day home game out of about 8 since moving to the Galpharm

I know what you are saying, but records are there to be broken and we have (hopefully) a different team and a different mentality to the one that rolled over against the likes of Port Vale, Portsmouth etc.
Probably only the Birmingham game carried anything on it in that run of losses.
Anyway, its the principle, if nothing else ;D

This is the kind of thing the fixture compilers have to take into consideration.
Every team is 'paired' with another (us and l**ds, at l**ds request) and those two teams never play at home on the same weekend. West Ham are 'paired' with Dagenham & Redbridge. But Southend also request they are not at home on the same weekend as West Ham as it affects their crowds. Southend are 'paired' with Colchester. Colchester share ground stewards with Ipswich so the can not play at the same weekend, and Ipswich are 'paired' with Norwich.
So where West Ham play has a knock on effect on Norwich 108 miles away.

Yes, I remember reading an article about compiling the fixture list a few years back, and appreciate that the fixture planners have to deal with a number of challenges which say the fixture planner for the Huddersfield Works league would not have to face.
However even if we do have these pairings, its not to say that pairs can't be flipped each season. If we are not careful clubs are going to be dictating the fixture list to such a point that the same teams always start and finish the season at home and vice versa.
The fixture planners have to ensure that no team has more than 3 consecutive home fixtures during a season, so I don't see why they cant work with a parameter that ensures no team completes 2 or 3 consecutive seasons with an away fixture.
Anyway I have had my say, and they have been produced now. I'll go away and chill ..... ;D

I think it is brilliant that we are away at Exeter last game of the season what a great day out it will be.
