I believe he is one of the best crossers at the club as for his inability to get forward. From simple memory, his crosses provided the goal for Holdsworth at home to Leeds and the winner at Luton on the last away game that season. I'm sure I'll find more if pushed. He is an excellent prospect who, if he improves his positional defending could be a mainstay for years a la D Burke. Dont think he'll ever be as good as Burkey was

Some people saying he can ping a good ball - so can Robbie Williams and IMO is better at it.
Skarz isn't a full back even though he plays there, the fact is he's too slow. Now I could see him a defensive midfielder or depending on how tall he is a centre back.

Just seen Joe jogging at bottom of Rowley Lane in Lepton with a very big back pack.

Do you mean when he let the ball and man past him for their goal ,looked like he was booking his holidays to me,Butler raised his hands to the heavens as much as to say f--k me,and gave him a right bollocking.

Yes he was at fault for that goal and got a bit of a runaround in the first half, But give the lad credit, he stuck to it and had a solid second half, including his goal. I mentioned it as evidence of him getting forward.
At his age he needs games which i can't see him getting here whilst Williams is in the form hes been in so maybe another loan spell isn't out of the question.

Gerry Murphy (1st spell) recognised Skarz was way too slow to be a fullback and in the reserves had Joe Skarz playing deep midfield as he does have a very good left foot. Sadly Joe was too weak and was pushed off of the ball quite a bit... At wing back he had sufficient cover behind him to take the winger (that's why Butler looked like he was almost playing left back in the 352 this season) which left him to float ont he left and deliver some good balls as a wing back. As a left back he's never got far enough up the pitch to put a ball in that wasn't diagonal. I think Skarz is very technically sound but as a full back he lacks pace, strength and composure and as a central midfielder he lacks strength and drive and has slow reactions. As a wingback he is ok without much defensive responsibility but I can't see Joe Skarz ever getting into the team barring some late physical development of which I hope happens for him. EDIT: He also hides and never wants to receive the ball from the keeper also - I've noticed this frequently.
