Taken from Fans FC (Whoever they are...?)
Peterborough star Craig Mackail-Smith is in demand after his 26-goal season, but Posh are not interested in selling their top stars.
Two Championship clubs and am ambitious League One outfit, thought to be Huddersfield Town, have lodged offers for the striker but director of football Barry Fry told the Evening Telegraph: "The chairman is adamant he won't be selling any of his better players."

If the bid is in excess of a million why not try Lambert?

I just can't see us splashing out £1m+ on one player.

So can I. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we were bidding £1m+ for a player. dean Hoyle doesn't look at it as £1m lost but as buying a player who mould well be worth £2m or £3m in a year or two. There are always risks, but if he thinks a player will go up in value, he'll spend what it takes.

Good point there, this is why we splashed the cash on Ainsworth and Pilks, both young players with bags of potential - highly likely that they'll go up in value. The same could also be said for Smithies, who may now be on a hefty wage, but will easily pay for himself if/when we eventually sell him for £3million +.

Although we spent money on Pilkington and Ainsworth they were both relitevely unknown players. It seems as if the players we're being linked with are all big names. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we sign another player like Novak who virtually no-one has heard of but has the change to be an 'investment' for the club in the medium term.

This is why I think Oli Johnson is the 'black striker' everyone is trying to guess the name of. He's relatively unheard of, and doesn't have all that much experience - he's a raw talent that the club is willing to invest in and develop.

No chance - Barry Fry using our name to raise the interest and he's probably got a replacement in place already.
