If anything, today's match proved it. Schofield has been largely ineffective on the left wing for long enough, but given his chance in the middle of the park in that little hole just behind the front men he was back to his best. We all saw that his position was there in the 2003/2004 promotion season, when he was basically the first name on the team sheet week in week out. It's about time people got off his back, Scoffer is probably our most technically gifted player and whilst I can't defend any player for lack of effort, his poor performances recently have been down simply to playing out of position. Get him back in the middle more often!

Problem is if we play 4-4-2 we can't afford to have Schofield in the centre, we'd have to play 5 in the middle if he's to play there. I don't think 3-5-2 is the answer, and 4-5-1 certainly isn't.
I think he can play on the left, he was brilliant there in the first half of the 05/06 season. Its just getting that consistency.

I've been saying that about Brandon too for ages, unfortunately though we do need someone out on the wing, Schofield & Brandon are not the people for the job as they both get slated when they do. Up the Terriers

I thought Scoffer looked a different player today from to one he's been stuck out on the left wing. Can he be accomodated in this role for the rest of the season and will his performances improve?

I reckon that if he plays well in that position and his performances improve then it would be in our best interests to accomodate him in that position. I always thought that he was a player who could have been snapped up by a prem side, he was a breath of fresh air in the middle today

KamaraKing - watch our promotion season again. Tell me who created most of the goals playing just behind the front two.
Remember you can't fill round holes with square pegs.

Everytime we've been promoted or hit the playoffs Danny has had a good season and weighed in with double figures - He was immense on the left wing under Macari, Superb behind the front 2 when we were promoted from League 2 and he had a very good season when we lost to Barnsley. He made Carvalho and Glen Johnson look like a pair of Sunday league players chasing him at the start of the Chelsea game... I don't know whether he gets niggly injuries or he loses interest as his form coincides with how we do.. It's just hard to consistently get the best out of him which Jacko did more often than not. I think we forget Danny has had a few injuries which have curbed his form and the loss of his brother has affected him this year. He never really excelled when the master tactician Wadsworth played him as an anchor man in midfield though - he was a genius that Mick
