Do WYP "only" charge for policing inside the ground? If the Met get their way I don't think it will be long before West Yorkshire's finest follow suit (if they don't already) ... and we all know who'll end up paying more in ticket prices to cover this! news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7154284.stm

If we are forced to pay for this policing, will get the right to set the levels of policing, as in some games where the away support is approx 300 of known no trouble making fans how do the plod justify 20+ police horses 20+ van loads of plod and two police in every pub.
Don't get me wrong i applaud what the police do in the line of duty and i know i am not up to the job myself, but they do themselves no favours with the way they treat all good genuine football supporters the way you should treat the mindless minority Knuckledraggers.
We are tret like third class criminal citizens at football matches what ever happened to "innocent before proven guilty"

readsthemac, we think very much alike on this subject ;D Sadly the Football League, the clubs and the FSF don't have the guts to stand up to the police and also to stand up against the police on behalf of the 99.99% of footy fans who only go to games to enjoy supporting their team.

Hence the increase in cheap as chips stewards over the years!

Things might have changed a bit, but several years ago I wrote to the club, asking if it was necessary to have 4 horses for a night game against Plymouth. The reply said two of the horses were free, as they were just out for a bit of practice. ;)The mounted officers were just out for the ride.
