Wondering if any of your mob could help. Any place you can recommend in Huddersfield where perhaps I could drink a decent glass of Chateau la Canorgue 2008 and possibly eat a dish of Caille en sarcophage (quail in a puff pastry shell with foie gras and truffle sauce)
Would be obliged.

If you're bringing it yourself to have as part of a picnic Snooty, I would recommend Greenhead Park.

Hey Snooty - loved your posts on your Cherries forum - very entertaining! There are a few good places to eat in Huddersfield centre but they don't come cheap! Argentinos is a great Steak house - a two minute walk from the train station - but pricey! Discovery Bay is a great Carabbean resteraunt which appeared on Gordon Ramsey's F Word - and - again, is only three of four minutes walk from the Station. - www.discoverybayuk.com/index.php?substance=newsAs for drinking - if you want real beer and a SHED LOAD of imported beers and spirits and wines you should try the Grove (http://www.groveinn.co.uk/) or the Rat and Ratchet (which is a little further out (http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/32/3293/Rat_and_Ratchet/Huddersfield)) Hope this helps - and I hope we destroy you on Wednesday

Once you've arrived in the north, and been rumbled as a soft southern nancy boy, you'll be beaten up and robbed by the local inbred fkwits. Your best bet then will be to make your way to the local soup kitchen for some free food. Don't know where that is though. Enjoy your stay.

Can people please stop recommending pubs, especially ones that I go to.
I'd prefer to be able to get served in less than 10 seconds thanks.
My preferred pre-match watering hole has gone from somewhere that used to attract 10 people on a Saturday afternoon at the start of last season to a place where they're queuing 3 deep at the bar, you can't get a seat, and its even standing room only outside in the snow.
GRRRRR.
(I'm sure the landlady appreciates the business).

I would recommend a bottle of Chateau Latour 1948 but you wont find a bottle here.
Very nice with a dash of Tetley bitter. Shaken not stirred.
I cornered the market and they are all in my wine cellar.

Bag of Whizz for the Riverside lower boys.. No need for fodder on match days... ;D
Whizz is a stimulant that can keep you awake for hours and jumping around like a nutter.
Its effects are like an adrenaline rush - it makes your heart go like the Flying Scotsman on amyl and you feel like you're bursting with energy and can dance/ shout/ sing all night.. Whizz can wake you up, make you feel extremely confident and outgoing and turn the quietest introvert into a gyrating John Travolta or a raving loonie on the terrace...
Deano should put it in the pasties and oxo... :appl:

Snooty, I'm assuming you will be staying in Huddersfield tonight and thought you might like a little jaunt tomorrow to take your mind off the game. Have the chauffeur outside at 11am sharp so you have time for a leisurely breakfast. Head out to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park for a stroll. www.ysp.co.uk/Appetite sharpened, drive towards Holmfirth and choose any of the pubs which appeal to you for lunch. A couple of pints should suffice. From the menu, you will realise that you can forget about Caille en sarcophage in these parts - you have more chance of seeing Carla and Sarkozy. Do not be disheartened - motor into the Holme Valley and visit "Château Holmbridge" for a wine tasting. Select a couple of bottles for later and a case to take back for Lady Snoots. www.holmfirthvineyard.com/Suitably relaxed, return to your hotel and prepare for the match by downing both bottles of wine and taking a nap. If you have trouble dropping off read the DATM thread "ONLINE TICKETING WATCH". downatthemac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=57008Hope you enjoy your stay with us, dear boy!

I can recommend the Gas works club, apparently their speciality is having things battered.......especially away fans with big gobs. Enjoy the game and I hope your return to Bournemouth is sponsored by Paxo......STUFFED...

I know a good pub and I guarantee it will have no fans in that are waiting eagerly in anticipation for the play off game. The old Peacock opposite Elland Road in Leeds
