This is the most ridiculous and offensive thread for any TOWN supporter to 'support'. How many beers, tee-shirts, clappy things, players, facilities at canalside, etc. has Dean Hoyle bought to support TOWN; and yet we have a stickied negative thread trying to persuade supporters to boycott the first and closest (mileage) 6 pointer of the season over a few quid. You should be ashamed of yourselves after DH's programme notes on Sat. Some people spent hundreds of pounds on new bikes, accommodation etc. and cycled to Brighton last year(+year before) to support the ACADEMY & YAA, get real and support TOWN or don't pretend to be a 'supporter'. The admin that stickied this thread should resign! If you have no dosh, that's another thing but no Please. This is about football, and HTAFC. I am sorry but this is nonsense mate, all credit for supporting Town but this pricing policy is the thin end of a massive wedge. It is the very fact that you and others will go out of loyalty to Town that is being expoited at Sheff U. I know there is an economic argument about supply and demand but surely if we sell less than 1000 tickets that sends a message to Sheff U and other clubs. I have followed Town for 33 years and would like to go on Tuesday but enough is enough.

Ridiculous that we've got Town fans having a go at Town fans. Some people aren't going. That's their choice. It doesn't make them any less of a fan, a supporter, or whatever. People have their limits, this goes above alot of peoples limits. To basically say the people boycotting the game should stop pretending to be a Town supporter is utter bollocks. Are the Leicester fans that boycotted Barnsley just pretending to be Leicester supporters too? I doubt it. People have made their choice, nobody is forcing people to go, and it's absolutely stupid tht some of those who are going are basically having a go at those who are boycotting it and trying to claim that those people aren't proper Town fans. Whether people like it or not, some people are boycotting. In so many words, deal with it. Accept it. Don't go slagging off those who aren't going though and trying to make out that they're not proper Town fans. excellent post, Ive followed town home and away since mid 70,s , ive spent thousands and thousands... i would have gone tuesday night and my lad, we both feel the same. My choice to not give that greedy little club my money !!! I still hope we batter them !!! UTT

I'd like to add that I am more likely to travel to Brentford (at a greater net cost to me) than pay Sheff U's prices..

You'll be able to pay on the day at Bramall Lane, just in case anyone changes their mind and decides they want to go to what will be a cracking match...

Its good to know all this time Ive been pretending to be a supporter. Ill be pretending again down at MK Dons on Saturday. : :

Unfortunately, a number of people on this thread just don't get it! TOWN get a share of the gate receipts, they get better support if more go. If you want to protest at the high price then protest, but do it in an intelligent way that does not penalise TOWN. I have been reading this thread since it was first posted and thought 'Christ that's expensive', 'I really wanted to go to Sheff U'; It put me off buying a ticket! After thinking about it I decided I was not going to be a lemming and follow suit; I would use my own brain and I decided to buy a ticket despite the cost. I then thought a bit more and decided to express my opinion and invite a whole load of ridicule, becuase it might prompt other TOWN supporters think again and go to Sheff U to support TOWN! If anybody wants to organise a protest at Sheff U I will gladly join you and express my objection to the price loudly. But then I will support TOWN at kick off. If you would like some free advise, but you do not have to take it, protest in a way that penalises Sheff U, don't buy their beer, pies, programme etc. Write to the the chairman telling him you are boycotting his beer etc. Encourage other TOWN fans to boycott his beer etc. But, please, don't encourage TOWN fans to not support TOWN, or your loyalty will be brought into question by free thinking people.

But, please, don't encourage TOWN fans to not support TOWN, or your loyalty will be brought into question by free thinking people. Nobody has encouraged anybody to 'not support Town', and to say peoples loyalty will be brought into question is taking things too far. You're basically trying to imply that those who are boycotting aren't loyal Town fans (which is bollocks), and in your own words earlier in this thread are just pretending to be Town supporters (which is also bollocks). Sorry for being blunt, but it is. People have made their own minds up. They've seen the prices, and they've made THEIR OWN PERSONAL CHOICE not to go. I haven't seen or heard anyone saying that people shouldn't go, or trying to encourage them not to go. Going to the game and not boycotting it doesn't make you or anyone else a better supporter, or more loyal (as you're seemingly trying to imply), and it doesn't make those who are boycotting it any less of a supporter or any less loyal. There's absolutely no need for those who are going, to constantly criticise those who aren't going. It's your choice to go, and it's their choice not to go. It doesn't need 1 set of our fans criticising another set of our fans. Whether people like it or not, people have made their decision. Yeah, you may not like peoples decision to either go or not go, but either way, respect the fact that people have made their own decision, don't slag them off, don't say they're pretend supporters or other such bollocks, just accept it and back off with the slagging off (which goes for both sides).

I follow Town up and down the country and only miss the occassional game when i can't make it for transport reasons(i don't drive) I've missed 9games over the past 3 seasons(ever present 09/10) My question to you is why should i be ashamed of my actions of boycotting SUFC? Am i a real Supporter?

I have no wish to offend any TOWN supporter! If I have, sincere apologies! I was tempted to not go to Sheff U by this thread. I reflected and decided I would not be drawn into a negative (for TOWN) boycotting action. I reflected again after reading Dean Hoyle's programme notes, and as a result am expressing my personal opinion. I respect your choice to make your own judgment, I just think you are wrong to not go to Sheff U as protest! I think there are better ways, and if I am wrong about gate share then it is down to the beer etc.
I would just like as many TOWN supporters to be at Sheff U as possible, lets blockade the bar and refreshement counter if we have to, lets support town AT Sheff U, Please!

You haven't got a clue. Away teams haven't taken a share of gate money for about 20 years! Do you seriously think this is about people wanting to save themselves 4 or 5 quid? the same people who spend hundreds upon hundreds, year after year, following this club up and down the country? The same fans you stupidly labelled as 'pretending to be supporters'. What an idiot you are!
Its about drawing a line in the sand and saying enough is enough. Im fed up of clubs exploiting my passion for my club and ripping me off. And the only way to get that message over to clubs is to hurt them in the pocket- and its great Sheffield Utd will be losing out on a fortune tomorrow.

I just rang the ticket office and after inquiries were made, I was told TOWN get 5% of AWAY ticket sold at the Galpharm. Which if you say 1000 tickets at £28.50 each (and not all of them will be adult tickets) you get a mind boggling and absolutely crucial £1425! So basically feck all, and certainly nothing to get excited about.
